I did this around the same time my Nintendo 64 started to go out of vogue..


Although I did get a PS2 once they'd been around a couple of years, and a 360 a year or two ago, but I've done a vast majority of my gaming on PC since I was a little kid.


For the most part, I prefer it. I guess a lot of games I enjoy are much more suited and more popular for PC, (Strategy/building games and RPGs) but I'm also a big fan of modding and a community being able to change a game to have the features they want to see. Too much time spent in the Morrowind construction set!


One place PC always let me down was racing games. I could just never quite get the hang of using a keyboard and mouse to drive. Though if I really liked racing games that much, I'd just plug in an Xbox controller.

I guess I just don't like the facade of "OH NO, that's IMPOSSIBLE! ". It's a machine. Tinkerers make machines. Machines get tinkered with. And if you get ripped off, make a better product. Because clearly someone decided the cash on the other wasn't worth the plunge.

I find FPS can vary, though generally better on PC.
TBS doesn't matter quite as much.
RTS fo-su better on PC.
Don't really play MMOs but I find RPGs more enjoyable on console.
Racing and flight sim games aren't as much fun on PC unless you buy controllers.

You don't have to be limited either, a friend of mine plays all of his PS3 games using a keyboard and mouse ;)

Planetside II - free to play or you can pay to speed up the process of advancing. It's a great game.. as a matter of fact.. since it came out.. i havnt touched any of my other games.

Btw I play PC only. I like that I can upgrade my machine as games come out and technology advances without paying 400.00 for an entirely new machine. Plus all agmes look better on PC.. there really is no debate about that.. and I am a graphics whore... I love pretty graphics.

While I don't disagree that PC games look prettier and the upgrade factor is nice, the last generation of consoles did come out around 7 years ago, I don't think you could do much upgrading a PC from 7 years ago! Heck, AGP was still the go to GFX bus in PCs 7 years back.

Though I must admit I'm tempted to save a bit more and stick one of those Nvidia Titan's into my new build later in the year :hiding:
