I had a go at it in October I think, did the whole game in a weekend. I was glued to it.
Next time I go at my parent's I'm bringing my Wii here and I intend to do the newer zeldas as well as the old ones (you can buy them on the market place and play them with a retro'ish controller that I have)
It's not that bad considering new games retail for 60~$ Ebay has a few cartridges around 25-30$.
The cheapest way would probably be to find someone on craiglist getting rid of his stuff. Or a friend/friend of friend.
Yeah, $10 for the system is cool, but I'll have to find games elsewhere. Maybe a pawn shop or a thrift store, or craigslist as you mentioned.
I will have an N64 and OoT by years end! Ive been itching to play it for a few years now.
Guess I should get Goldeneye, and maybe Super Smash Bros. Hmm, Mario Kart... Mortal Kombat III. That'll do. For now.
Mario 64, Starfox, Donkey kong, Diddy kong racing, majora's mask, paper mario, mario party, perfect dark!
Oh, and pokemon stadium.

Bought Resident Evil 6 and Halo 4 in the past week, so I'll be busy with either/ or for a while.
Finally done with RE4 for a loooong time. Playing it on Professional with the PRL-412 is frighteningly easy, and a lot of fun!

While I don't disagree that PC games look prettier and the upgrade factor is nice, the last generation of consoles did come out around 7 years ago, I don't think you could do much upgrading a PC from 7 years ago! Heck, AGP was still the go to GFX bus in PCs 7 years back.
Though I must admit I'm tempted to save a bit more and stick one of those Nvidia Titan's into my new build later in the year
Eh, AGP was getting fazed out 8 years ago when I built my first computer. They were still around, and fairly common, but the PCI 2.0 bus was really starting to take hold then.
Thats what Ive been told, but I have to beat Arkham Asylum first, in order to find out.
I gave up on that one. It was a fun game but the save system drove me crazy, and I was getting sick of replaying the same 10 minute sections over and over again when I was in a tough spot and kept dying.

Do you actually know anyone who has a working PS3 or 360 that is seven years old though? IME they break down after a few years of use, and you can either send it in and pay sony or microsoft to fix your machine or you're screwed.
I don't think anyone will argue that PCs are the most cost effective platform for gaming, but I think the added benefits of a PC make it worth the extra couple bucks.
Also, you don't have to upgrade your entire system at the same time. A newer GPU in an older machine with decent specs will still spank any console in terms of performance.
Well that depends on how cutting edge you want to be with your system. A clan mate of mine has an SLI set up with two nVidia GTX670s (which are these Invalid Link Removed). So he's already spent, in video cards alone, how much it would cost to have a PS3, when it was bought new. He's also got a 512 gb SSD for his OS and his games, a $200+ mobo and a processor that's about $300 I think, etc. All told he's got north of $2,000 invested in his computer and peripherals. Now, that computer destroys pretty much everything that's out there today and doesn't look back, but in 3-4 years that computer's going to be about average.
Computer gaming CAN be very cost effective, but it can also be VERY expensive.
Halo 4 was fun... Kind of disappointed me though. I know I'm in the minority that I play halo for the epic and difficult campaign modes... So I was hesitant after beating halo 3 in a week after it came out. ******* at gamestop assured me that halo 4 was "easily twice as long" as halo 3. I beat the game in two sittings.
