Garageband input issue

Yeah so I have recorded a bass track in garageband. I need to record another one on top of it. When I click the first track, I can hear whatever I play in real time as well as what I have recorded. However, when I create a new track, or duplicate the original, there is no input at all, moreover, I can't hear anything, even the amp noise or the effects. All of the settings on both tracks are the same. Please help.
