Honestly, I love our Isuzu Rodeo. It is a tight, efficient vehicle, and has served our needs perfectly for years and years. We have a '96, and it is just now beginning to decline.

Beats the heck out of either Ford or Chevy vehicles of similar size for gas mileage, durability, and performance.

A couple of weeks ago I took my son to the Friday night drag races. I hadn't been to the drags in over 25 years. I could not believe all the Mustangs on the track. It was 90% Mustangs. Anything from the 60's to brand new. Lot's and lots of 80's models and even a couple of Mustang II's from the 70's. Back in my day Chevy dominated the track. I'm guessing you can probably pick up an 80's Mustang for next to nothing these days. If it doesn't already have a V8 it's something that's easy enough to do, and you're good to go.

Had a blast. Can't wait to go back.

I got a '98 stang :cool: its only a base model, but I'm working on improving it.

...but I don't race... I get about 23 mpg in it, I've been filling up about once a week with my daily commute of 20 miles...

for about $50 a tank

I'm interning at an engineering company, but once I am back in school I wont be driving at all really. just home to visit my gf and to stores, walk to school

maybe I'll get a bike

I haven't been in a couple years, I'd love to head back to Baytown.

Could have been a Mustang event at the track? Back when I used to race, the Mustang club would have track days where they'd encourage everyone to come out for a spin. Mustangs have also severely outsold Camaro's and Firebirds for about 6 years now.... :ninja: Not to mention they were selling better for the years those cars were actually being sold too. :D

And it doesn't have to have a V8 to go fast these days. There's plenty of cheap V6 aftermarket parts that will turn your standard six banger into a V8 killer. There's a couple that run 9 second 1/4's. I only put about $3k into mine and I hit 13.9's, embarrassed a couple older V8's.

I didn't--I said you seem willing to believe. And heck, there are tons of rumors floating around the Internet that no one has taken the time to disprove--doesn't mean there's even a grain of truth to them.

I will say that supply and demand (driven by big changes in the global economy) combined with speculation can cause huge price changes in just a few years. Notice that the prices of a lot of commodities besides oil have skyrocketed as well, but I don't hear any conspiracy theories about corn or tin out there.:)

...and there are people who have taken the time to discredit or disprove some of the yarns that the mainstream media spins. So what. We could go back and forth for the next two months and never get anywhere arguing about out what a legitimate source of truth is.

Like you I know of no conspiracies as far as commodities, but if you want to talk about the high price of corn then you can blame it on an agenda.
