Gator Guitar Case for Mustang Bass

Hi Talkbass!

I need to buy a case for my MJM Mustang Bass. And I really want to have more compact solution with bass case. I checked all the topics, and there are some contradictions on this stuff. Some says bass fits, some says that it is not true.

So, please share your own experience, best with JMJ Mustang (Because I imagine that some has a bit bigger or lesser dimensions).

As I understood there are two, which pop up in topics:
Gator GC-ELEC-XL Guitar
Gator GW-Jag Guitar

I really need some first hand experience responses.

Thank you.

I had the Gator GC-ELEC-XL Guitar for my JMJ Mustang. It fit in there very snug. The only issue was the G string tuner would have to be turned a certain way to fit causing it to be out of tune. Wasn't a big deal for me as I always tune up after taking the bass out of the case.

Mustangs are longer than many other short scales and many guitar cases are too short for most. Measure your bass and then compare to the specs. Looking at the Gator page, I am pretty sure the GC-ELEC-XL is too short. I know the Mustang is longer than my short scale Stingray which is 42 inches. The specs for that case list the interior length as 41.9. The jag specs at 42.6, so maybe.
