GBE 1200 defect cause

A while ago my GBE 1200 started making snap, crackle and pop noises when I turned up the volume past 9 o' clock or so. I had it fixed and turned out they had to replace the circuit board. Now I wanna know what could have caused this? I played with an EBS Multidrive and Boss GEB-7 eq pedal in front of it for a while, is it possible that I blew out the preamp stage by trying to boost my signal too much? And yes I know the amp has enough power on its own, I was trying out stuff, alright.

I would guess that it was just a faulty circuit board or componet in the first place that finally went. That happens. It should be able to handle your effects. It is probably cheaper and easier for them to replace the cuircuit board than to try and track down the problem and repair the board. Was this fixed on warrantee? I doubt warrantee would have covered it if it was caused from misuse.

No I had it fixed at a local shop here, since I bought it second hand anyways. It's not that big a deal, I just wanna know what I did wrong so I can avoid it in the future.

I wouldnt worry about it. Ive seen people use overdrive units on amps that boost the input signal alot. Just use the active input if it has one and your worried about it.

Yeah I did, I play an active lakland bass. I just thought I might be hurting the preamp since the clip light of the tube stage is pretty much on all the time.
