This popped up for sale locally today. 1998 MIJ Geddy. Absolutely beat to snot. Spent a lot of time cleaning her and giving her a much needed setup. After a few hours of work, turns out she plays great. The old DiMarzio pups in her sound pretty good too. Guess she was played hard for a reason. Pics....

Looks like what some people pay lots of money for ....a nice relic job or a real vintage 70's jazz bass. Now you don't have to worry about dinging it. Enjoy it!!

Is that JB Weld on the E tuner?

It's been rode hard for sure but it's a good look on that bass!

I’m digging that shim in the neck pocket. Is that a cutout picture of the grille off of a Jeep Cherokee? LOL

Great looking bass btw and congrats!!

Awesome! Love the battle tested look on that bass.

I had Model J pickups in my Geddy for a while. That was a fierce sound. Enjoy.

  11. Amazing how people treat an instrument that probably was expensive when they bought it. My Fender Musicmaster was in even worse condition.

Enjoy the new addition, great that it all works.

Did they actually wear the Crafted in Japan and serial number off the heel of the neck (just above the neck pocket)?

I love acquiring basses like this that actually set up and play well. Very liberating. Congrats, good job, and enjoy.

Are you going to do any cosmetic work to it, or just let it speak for itself? It has plenty of character.

i owned a 66 p bass in my youth and dogged it till unplayable /now have a 2017 Roadworn P and i love it. Your bass is an absolutly REAL ROADWORN and i would leave her just like that . Its beautiful! Enjoy! And by the way on my 66 one of the tuners on it was loose at the end of the stem and would move so i would tape it down time to time. Awesome lookin Jazz you got there!

That was a lot of work. Every time I tried to click "Like" another picture would load and the "Like" link moved.

It looks like some kind of weld or brazing with clear epoxy over it. Seems super strong. Going to leave it :)
