Enjoy. I hope you get it out soon if you play live. You are right in the zone of what I paid for it. Given that's in poor cosmetic condition (but "A" level playing condition), I think it was a fair deal. It literally plays as good as some of my basses that cost thousands...
You're clearly not going to tell us how much or else you already would have. My over under for that would probably have been $450. I might have been able to talk myself out of it above that price but not at or below.
My first thought was Mike Todd from Coheed and Cambria, as that bass is of an old enough vintage, then the look and wear and tear tells me it's definitely seen actual use. Who knows what he did with them as he left the band in 2012 and haven't heard much of him since. He was from NY I believe, dunno where Quad is from...
When I saw "Geddy Barn Find" I though perhaps you had found an old machine that his uncle had preserved for 50 odd years. This popped up for sale locally today. 1998 MIJ Geddy. Absolutely beat to snot. Spent a lot of time cleaning her and giving her a much needed setup. After a few hours of work, turns out she plays great. The old DiMarzio pups in her sound pretty good too. Guess she was played hard for a reason. Pics....

Nice! My MIJ serial was worn off too by the previous owner. Can you can tell it’s MIJ By removing the neck? Based on the shape of the pick guard screws, I would date this bass to August/September 1998, somewhere right around thereHere's the neck and pocket on this one...

Looks like what some people pay lots of money for ....a nice relic job or a real vintage 70's jazz bass. Now you don't have to worry about dinging it. Enjoy it!!
Thanks..So really the only way to confirm is by our worn off serialsHere's the neck and pocket on this one...
