Geddy Lee Jazz

which begs the question... Why do you have two geddy lee fender J basses???

Well, the '03 started giving me problems in '07, and at the time I worked for a company that allowed me to purchase a new one for $600. So while the '03 was getting fixed I just bought another one. I love the necks so much that only one of the basses I own doesn't have a geddy neck, and that one has been re shaped to match a geddy :).

And the newer one is not the same quality?

I have read that the older GLs are preferred - - but can you elaborate?

Absoloutely. When buying 'new' I strictly buy in the box, hasn't been touched since it left the factory condition. The '03 out of the box was stunning. I've never seen such a gorgeous neck, flamed like a custom shop. At the time I had no idea how light it was, until I bought the '07. To be more precise, the '03 weighs 9.0 lbs, the '07 is 11.2 lbs. Althogh debateable, I feel like the '03 sounds more punchy, which I attribute to the weight. As for electronics, the '03 had no problems until '07, because some sweat shored the bridge pickup (yes, I sweat that much) and that was all my fault. The '07 wasn't grounded correctly out of the box and had frets as sharp as razor blades. Needless to say I was dissapointed with the amount of work I had to put into the '07. That's all in a nutshell. Sorry for all the text :)
