Geddy Lee overrated??

It's funny how all this five years old piss all over a person's body of work. Where are all the bands of this "critics"? Can we hear some? It's not about Geddy Lee, it's about treating musicians as soccer teams. "Barcelona is my passion, so all of you Real Madrid's fans are the enemy, your team sucks" and all that nonsense. C'mon, grow up a little and next time you actually feel you have something to say, think again. It maybe just your opinion, and you should convey it like so.

Geddy overrated but Chaim F-ing Witz underrated? Ha!

I love it...totally unqualified amateurs critiquing a bass icon to thousands and then wondering why he is getting flamed. I bet you like to sit on your couch every sunday with a beer, nachos, and wings and yell instructions to Tom Brady and Payton Manning on how they are overrated? No one asked you to start this thread, what did you expect would happen? We would all chime in with...yeah, you are sooo right dude! I cant believe how right you are!?

It has twenty or so songs in it with Geddys basslines in musical notation and TAB. If you can locate the book look at the basslines he's playing. Also, Geddy is still making basslines to songs....I'm sure John would too if he didn't pass away.

I am a fan of both Geddy and The OX.

BUT, check out this isolated recording of The OX. It sounds sloppy and like a band parctice. I guess when the rest of the band is playing, you don't really hear it like this, but it's less than inspiring.
With that said the work that The OX did on "Tommy" is my favorite from him.

Geddy Lee is twenty times the player Entwhistle was. He was a pentatonic immature player. Lee was a melodic genious.

Fundamentals dudes. The OX just wailed away on his patterns while Geddy constructed his lines.

Can you ever compare a line like Red Barchetta to anything the OX did, no.

NO and Yes. NO, he's not overrated at his craft, trade, etc. Geddy's a freaking rock god and admired/respected by many elite players. He is still rock solid at his age too. Been at it longer than most on here have been breathing. 'Til you've done it as long, as well, etc, your opinion is going to be worthless really. NOW in popularity, he may be overrated. All the new kids and elitists scream "he's a God" and don't know why. It's just a rite of passage. They are correct, they just don't know why. I can't help but agree there are tons of other players out there who deserve some recognition, but in popularity contests it's always gonna be players like Nikki Sixx, Gene Simmons, Duff McKagan, etc, who "win". At least the OP compared Geddy with John Entwistle. Both are so high up on my pedestal of respect I can't even begin to fathom pitting them against each other. Both also have great BANDS with great SONGS. I think I may prefer the wear the white robe-thing and do HEMISPHERES myself :)

+1. I have no idea how twdavis13 has not been banned yet, he is easily the most regular poster of the trolls I've seen in my (admittedly short) time on TB.

Over-rated, according to who? These threads crack me up... any of these cats, like Geddy, Tony Levin, etc who have been at it this long with a great body of work that stands the test of time, who cares if some "wheel chair general" thinks someone is over rated? Just mental masturbation... Play yer AXE...and practice!
