i've got that tour program from the hemispheres tour around here somewhere. oh yeah, here it is. i marked that they played 'xanadu', he would've needed the 4080/12 for that one, right?

It's not the 40th Anniversary of the band, it's the 40th Anniversary of Neil Peart joining the band 
I think I've seen them 16 times, but I kind of lost track. My fave was seeing them on the Moving Pictures tour with FM opening, that was really great
But yeah, would LOVE to see the Ric come out! The halls will go absolutely bonkers if he bounces out with the Ric to something like the beginning of Hemispheres! LOL

For me, he's one of the most frustrating bassists to watch (favorite to listen to), because his right hand technique is all over the place, and obviously something he came up with himself...Just got tickets for my 20somethingth show...

I'm happy to see him uaing new basses. I don't get all the comments about wanting to see him use the wals and ricks again. Weve seen him use them, Id love to see him continue growing as an artist and trying new basses. The beatle bass and thunderbird have got me excited!

Beyond the RIC and Wal, I think a lot of us GAS affected freaks would love to see Geddy pull out a Sadowsky, FBass, Alembic, Beatle bass, etc... something different. Just because he has played the black Jazz for so long.
Crazy enough, I hung out with one of Geddy's close relatives when I was a teenager and he was/is a great bass player. We played Geddy's amps and basses a few times. Mostly Fender, Sunn and Ampeg (don't recall a RIC). Weird as I was I huge Rush fan, but I never thought much about playing such cool gear. Maybe I was too baked.
DVD's and now U-tube vids help "see" that.
Last time I saw them was in Houston a LONG time ago with lousy FOH and Primus opening for them. Never again will go to an arena show unless I'm side stage, front row, or their FOH guy is the guy running Journey's sound now(Meaux). I've heard him tame arenas and impossible rooms.
Yeah nothing says 'new and innovative' like the Jazz bass he's using now. Same one he used in the 70's.

I recently learned that the seafoam Jazz Geddy is playing and just bought was my friends. My friend Tino is a big vintage fender collector and had this one up for sale. A broker from Fla. bought it. Turns out this broker was affiliated with the Geddy camp. Unfortunately he didn't know until the deal was done. True story.
LOL at the guy old enough to have an 11 year old kid thinking the kid will be the one having trouble getting through a show. Just make sure he wears earplugs and give him a soda or 2 and he'll be fine.
You know it's funny there was a Rosewood 62 reissue neck on eBay you months ago claimed to being sold by a "well known "roadie or bass tech for rush. Wouldn't say who it was though that's why I didn't even bid on it. I'm huge Geddy/rush fan and really really wanted to buy that thing. I couldn't find one single picture of him with the 62 reissue bass. Add claimed it was on his red jazz but that's a custom shop with Maple block neck.
First auction didn't even get any bids with a reserve at like 550.
Think it sold for about 600 bucks The second go around.
After the auction I saw a picture somewhere on talkbass of him with a red jazz RW board on the CP tour, which I saw 3 shows but don't remember him playing any RW fenders except for his teardrop p-bass back in the 70s.
I really wanted that neck.
I remember reading somewhere that he has one of the largest bass collections in the world, and he himself honestly as not the slightest clue how many basses he has....warehouses full.......so, I'm guessing not.
Why not, he used a 4001 when they played "Passage to Bangkok" for the R30 tour.
Well, he did use a Precision with a rosewood board on the first album, the one that was cut into the tear drop shaped bass. And he's been buying a ton of basses recently, I'm sure he's got more than a few Fenders with rosewood boards, aside from the Jaco basses of course.

I wonder if that guy you hung out with was his nephew? He was profiled in Bass Player mag a few months ago, Rob Higgins of Dearly Beloved.

I saw that auction as well, and the pic later on with the red Jazz with rosewood board. I saw that tour as well, but I don't recall a red Jazz during that tour, not until Test for Echo. Of course, he could have used it for a couple of shows and decided he didn't like it.
