Yes, Geddy plays fingerstyle. He keeps the nail a little long on his right index finger to simulate a pick sound. I've never been really up-close at a live show, but from seeing the Exit: Stage Left video, it appears he digs in pretty good.

First songs??? I'd start out with their older stuff first, and work your way to more recent...Geddy's playing has become much more sophisticated and subtle over the years, and if you jump in to the recent stuff first, you'll find that simply learning the notes is not the hardest part!Originally posted by td1368
I really dig Geddy. Any opinions on a "first" Rush song to learn. Any ideas on books for sheet music/ tab?

geddy is one of my most important influence.
do you know if there is a website devoted to him? i'm lookin' for but i can't find anything interesting out there
thx
This is a song that is surprisingly NOT as hard to play as you'd think...the verse is pretty much only two chords: E and B. And, you don't have to move your left hand much to play this...the right hand "skips" over strings, so what sounds like very fast notes is a simple technique...Originally posted by NewWaveBasser
