Geddy Lee Sansamp Pedal!

I cancelled my initial January pre-order a couple of months ago - figured I'd have better luck catching the some of the earliest releases on E-Bay or Reverb as they trickled in. It seems to have paid off - found a Seller this morning on Reverb who had 1 remaining in stock. It should arrive Saturday or Monday at the latest, I'm still waiting for the Tracking Info to start updating.

I get the impression these things are not lasting long in stores - the Seller told me they got a batch (didn't say how many) on Tuesday and only had 1 left this morning (the one I grabbed up).

The wait does suck for these, but clearly these are starting to arrive here & there - won't be long now at all.

When I ordered Sweetwater told me that late May/early June was the expected timeframe, so it looks like that is still the case. Its getting close!

Musicians Friend also has a date listed as 6/19.

Been lurking this thread for a while (since the YYZ hit my radar from NAMM vids). I don't currently have any gigs that have any need for the Geddy sound, but that didn't stop me from preordering... Looking forward to getting the YYZ on a board and giving it a go. :)

5sg.

I don't really have a gig for the sound either, but I may try it in my cover band and see. Miht work for some tunes - maybe toned down just a touch. I'm hoping maybe I'll find one in Minneapolis this weekend.

I know you're a minimalist. But you don't need a REASON to buy this. Just buy it! It's Geddy freakin' Lee in a box! You know you want to. All the cool kids are doing it.

Geddy was my first bass hero. I’ll probably get one. It’s a tone that could work for more than “Rush” covers. It’s a sweet grinding tone for rock.

The more-highly-colored dUg pedal does more than just dUgTone, and I'm certain the YYZ will do more than just GedTone.

Luckily for me I play in a couple power blues/rock trios where the BLs like my aggressive tones :bassist: so when I eventually get mine, I will primarily dial in GedTone. But I will also try it out for conventional oldies/classic rock/R&B/pop/country, and I'm sure it'll work for those too. Hell, I've used my dUg for stuff like Mustang Girl and Brown Eyed Sally: dial back the gain and the high end.

I'm thinking so too, kinda counting on it in fact. My main bass preamp has a great distortion (not OD), but it comes in almost too much, too fast.

It's do-able and has a clean blend, but very tricky to find the more subtle flavors of OD with my existing preamp.

Not looking to sound like Geddy Lee, just looking for a preamp to take over the duties of light-to-moderate OD with a more controllable, smooth range. Who knows, if the full-on distortion tone of the YYZ sounds just as good or better than what I have now, I'll just let the YYZ do it all and leave the clean tone to my current preamp.

Ever come across a pedal that felt like magic when you heard it? I was actually about make a post asking for help deciding on a subtle OD when I found out about this one, listened to samples and went “THAT’S IT!” GedTone or not, it’s precisely the OD I’ve been looking for.

I don't know that there's anything wrong with "GedTone" for other music. If you want an aggressive sound that still has some bottom end, this could be it. By the time you get mixed in with the band through FOH and stuff, it could be very useable I would think.
