Geddy Lee Sansamp Pedal!

I’ve found it pretty flexible. I’m not trying to sound like Geddy , not using Jazz Basses , unless you count Fender Jazz Special which is really more of a P Bass with a j pickup at bridge
& I find it can go from just a good clean amp to cleanish amp starting to get gritty type setting to full on drive options.

Plays nice with other drive pedals.

Very interactive controls so you need to experiment a bit. Also responds very well to dynamics.

The thing that has impressed me most is it has a very amp like feel and response
If you combine it with a good Cab IR it’s fantastic going direct

That's sounds good. I'm not into compressed overdrives nor loosing bottom. Might be giving it a try.

Nothing to do with the pedal, but I had a MIJ Geddy Lee a while back and had a friend of mine paint the pick guard for me. Wish I had this one back.

How'd that shootout end up going for ya??
It went quite well, thank you for asking.
The Geddy is unlike any pedal I've used before. The way controls work/interact really gives you SO many tonal options. IMO it's most useful as a slightly overdriven preamp (well, duh). Not so useful as a on/off dirt pedal.
I A/B/Ced the VT, Sansamp, and Geddy at my last rehearsal. The Geddy held it's own nicely. It's easy to achieve a pretty neutral tone but sounds best as a dirty preamp with huge lows (again, duh). To me the VT and Sansamp both cut through the mix better than the YYZ. The YYZ doesn't have that high mid "clank" that the Sansamp and VT have. NOT a bad thing, just different. I found the YYZ difficult to really find a sweet spot. I also had trouble dialing in a clean tone I liked (not exactly the aim for this pedal). With the tight button in you have to roll towards the Deep side to get your lows back. With the tight out it gave HUGE low end until you rolled towards the Drive side. That button and the Blend knob really do give endless possibilities. It's definitely not a typical Tech 21 character pedal. It does have it's own flavor but it's not a dominant one that you can't work around. I will continue to use the VT as my main preamp while I spend more time with the YYZ. It's a really great pedal and if you want to sound like recent Geddy, this is your box.

Are the controls on the yyz super touchy like the VTbass?
Curious about this pedal but could never stand the overly
touchiness of the VT.
It was like if I just barely moved one of the controls
my tone was totally different.
Not a fan of that myself.

I gave up on this for a while. Got tired of not being able to order one. Did I search today. Sweetwater shows them in stock when I search but as a preorder when I add to cart.

Are these pedals available anywhere? To actually buy now?

Not seen any in Europe, anywhere.
I think it’s a bit rubbish considering these were being pumped at the start of the year and we’re approaching July now.
What’s so frustrating is a date is given and when it gets near it slips by 5-6 weeks with no explanation.:banghead:

Thanks. Ordered. Should have it Monday. Hope I like it. If not I guess there’s a market.

There's a whole lot to like about this pedal. However, it might be worth posing return option questions to the Seller too.

I've bought several pedals on Reverb that were not from private individuals, but in actuality they were real brick-n-mortar stores at various US locations, and they've offered no-hassle returns even if I simply didn't care for the pedal.

I hear more hi-mid clank from the YYZ over the VT or BDDI.

Or maybe I hear more useable hi-mid clank.
I’ve always gravitated to the Oxford when it comes to Tech21. Had most of their character pedals, both versions of the early BDDI, and found the Oxford to come closest to my favorite tones.(That clanky-yet slightly fuzzed out tone from early early FNM).
I always got “clacky” tones from the VT when I tried to emphasize the distorted metallic edge.

My favorite pedal is an Alpha Omega for those sounds, but feeding it with an Oxford was previously my favorite before I got a crossover distortion(DG X) to add more high end to the Alpha-Omega.
The 2k boosted mids on the YYZ makes me think it might make a good replacement for the Oxford and maybe replace my X in front of the A/O.

It’s between the YYZ and the new 9v Rusty Box, perhaps.

I can confirm very usable clank from yyz and the yyz in front of my Alpha Omega Set Low to medium gain is my current favorite combo.

Also love FNM Bass Tones !
