Geddy was a huge influence on me, not only in the world of bass playing, but also with that individual, adventurous spirit that he has. Sure, he probably can't sit in with a jazz fusion group or be a first-call country session bassist, but no one does what Geddy does, and he does it quite well. He's The Man, in that respect.
I wish Geddy would make an instructional video of his flameco like style. I want to learn his techniques so BADLY!

title says it all. Hearing Geddy Lee made me pick up the bass at 13 years old and I have spent 20 years playing the instrument I love because of his influence.
I know and appreciate the work of all the other masters (Jaco, Squire, Wooten, Clarke etc) but no one touches my musical heart the way that Geddy does. His lines speak to me, his sound grabs me and his style knocks me off my chair.

Amazing player..........Farewell to Kings , Carress of Steel, 2112, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, Exit Stage Left, Moving Pictures are fine examples of bass mastery.

Well... I appreciate him/his music... but it's not a huge influence.
WTH Was with "My Favorite Headache" it started out amazing with the title track, then everything afterwards is like generic rock.

My Favourite Headache was (I guess) a way for Geddy to keep the fans satisfied with the 5 year wait for Vapour Trails.
Many say that its just a pseudo-Rush album, but I disagree. It showcases Geddy's songwriting. He has always been the more melodic writer in the team, Alex is the rocker.
+1 for Farwell To Kings.

For me, when it comes to Rush, I don't listen to critics or reviewers - its personal and important. If I like a Rush album, its my choice.
one of my fave Rush albums is Signals - show me another who would agree?????

And it was Geddy who really inspired me to pick up bass guitar initially. Other bassists came along soon after that had an influence on me (Sting, Chris Squire, Stanley Clarke, etc), but Geddy started it all for me. His tone, his inventiveness, even his choices of synthesizer sounds, just that whole Geddy package. Heck, I even like his voice, even the '70s screeching banshee stuff.
Yeah, I have the chronicles and I have really gotten to like Rush... At first the vocals threw me, but they grew on me after a while and now I really like their music. The three of them were all excellent musicians!

I agree 100%. I spent a whole year when I first started playing listening to nothing but Geddy. He's always been a big influence to me. He's 'Agressively Melodic.' He's definately in my top 5.
