he inspires me to play bass, he is an awesome bassplayer. right now im hearing YYZ, AMAZING. i friggin love Rush!

TOO BUSY!
Does anyone agree with me? Especially with his new (well, from Counterparts era) and annoying "fingersweep" technique. It's not so bad on the studio versions, but when he starts doing his "digga-digga-digga" rhythm on something that normally doesn't have it (live version of TSoR anyone?), it drives me crazy!!!

I agree with the people who like Caress of Steel. It was incredible. The Critics, IMO, are only listening to it, they don't take it in. What the lyrics say in The Necromancer, and the Fountain of Lamneth, those are incredible stories!
And the Drum line in Bastille Day is uncomparable.
Even I think i'm going bald! It was so different from the rest of the songs. I think they were aiming for a Yellow Submarine- The Beatles type thing, with a joke song becoming a number one hit, but who knows! The way Neil writes it like no other.

I hereby officially appreciate Geddy Lee with the following anecdotes:
One time, I had a flat tire. I put my Walkman headphones on the tire, played the bass riff at the beginning of Red Barchetta, and the tire inflated itself again within seconds. I drove the rest of the way to Memphis uninterrupted.
My uncle had a bad back. I had him lay down on the floor, and then I put a bookshelf speaker on his back and played La Villa Strangiato in it's entirety. Then I told him to take 3 Advil and get 8 hours of sleep. The next morning, his back was completely cured.
A girl I know owed the IRS $15,000 in back taxes. I told her, "send them a copy of 2112, and this autographed program from the Presto tour". Her tax bill was delclared Paid in Full the next week.
I once saw Geddy Lee eat 52 hot dogs in under 12 minutes.
Geddy Lee can spotaneously rearrange the molecular structure of anything he touches.
"Geddy Lee" translates directly into Navajo as "meaty, beaty, big, and bouncy"
If you knock out a permanent tooth, apply gauze to stop the bleeding and place the tooth in a dark room in which "Signals" is playing on repeat. Then get to a dentist ASAP.

No slam on the Gedster, but it's easy to eat 52 hotdogs when you can turn them into a gas FIRST.
I love Rush and listen to them all the time .I haven't heard a Rush song I didn't like(I've heard quite a few, new and old) and I would have to say that Geddy Lee is my favorite bassist . I realize that there are other bassist that are better, faster and more technicaly advanced but I think he is the best all around bassist. His playing speaks to my soul. The way he creates melodies and moods in his music is amazing. I also like his more rockin' style he had back in the seventies. He inspired me to play better and challenge myself. I also love the way he sings, especialy on the early albums, his singing is very intense. I also agree with lildrgn I don't care much for his finger strumming, it sounds allright in certain songs but in others it totaly sucks compared to what he should be playing. But I still think he's the best.

Not only have I never heard a bad Rush song (some of the eponymous debut were a little suspect, but you have to take them with a oih of salt), but I strive to play like. It's not just his tone, not just the lines he plays, but the way in which he uses his chops to add to Rush, rather than just flying away with it. (but thats a good thing, sometimes 
).
Every time i buy a new Rush album it gets in the running for being my favourite, right now I'm listening to Presto, and I must say I love it! I think sou much of their career is overlooked today, especially the late 80's period.
imo, Power Windows, Hold Your Fire and presto are 3 of their finest albums! But don't ask me which one is my favourite...

Yeah, Signals and grace under pressure are very awesome, GUP is the record that got me into Rush, I was hooked after I heard Afterimage!
Signals is awesome too, songs like New World man, The Analogue Kid and Digital man cannot be denied!
But I think my favourite song from that time period has to be....Kid Gloves. So, so underrated...

I learned Finding My Way by ear (I normally rely on tabs) and I LOVE Rush. I just figured I'd say I'm working on Rush tunes by ear and it's helping. Geddy's one of the best!
My favorite RUSH album is which ever one I'm listening to at any given moment.
I have them all, and love them all.
Every RUSH album has something different that keeps me inspired and motivated, not just the bass but all aspects of the song.
Geddy's basslines are constantly evolving throughout the songs which keeps things intresting and fresh.
Not to mention everything else he does, keyboards, bass pedals and vocals. Geddy is one multi-talented bass player.
Obscure songs: "No one at the Bridge" and "Natural Science"
I have them all, and love them all.

Moving Pictures is my fav album, but everytime I hear the intro to Secret Touch from Vapor Trails I almost crap my pants.

Many years ago I put on a copy of Hemispheres and my life changed forever. Here was a bass player that played amazing melodic lines in this 3 piece band and was well just brilliant. Still regarded by most Rush fans as their definitive moment Hemispheres and Lee's bass playing has sustained my interest in the instrument (amongst many others esp, Jeff Berlin).
For a very short while we teamed up with a singer that sung like Lee and we played Digital Man, Red Barchetta in live sets. We sort of played YYZ in a sloppy way and La Villa a little bit better. Oh the memories!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only thing I don't like about the EP is that Geddy's tone sounds over-SansAmped at times. Though I'll be eating my words if I find out he used different gear on that EP.
(But I do know he uses a rackmount SansAmp for his grit.)
