Raise prices equally, that counters energy or wood or inflation. And we can all say "yupp every year".
Raise prices 25% on certain items and its a money grab.

If you really want a CV you should get the older ones made in China, you may have to shop used but they are worth it and better quality then the new Indo ones..

Or maybe it's passing along cost increases on items that cost substantially more (due to labor/material/disruption/etc.) by way of higher price for *that item*, and not passing them along to customers who are purchasing items that haven't incurred such cost increases.

I don't mean to sound argumentative, but I'm in favor of making people who want the thing that cost more to make, pay for it themselves.

It's not at all like that. Guitars, keyboards, drums, etc. are all vanity items. They are not essentials.

again the shortage has created the illusion of a demand. what you really should be asking is hwo are the sales numbers. just because everyone on youtube says demand is up doesnt mean sales are up. Of course demand is higher now because there is nothing available which increases demand. Of course this wasnt created in a back room, but they sure take advantage of it just like everyone has.

All things being equal, supply was not affected early on in the pandemic. Demand for some stuff grew and artificially impacted supply. and some speculators made out...unethically, I might add.

By now supply issues will have likely kicked in across many industries. Demand might seem to be up a bit but my guess only marginally. I don’t see the speculation that was present in the spring - for certain good.

What looked to be a shortage to us consumers likely was and is demand equalling or slightly exceeding supply.

In reality, speculation aside, Prices for many goods have not jumped that much for anything (well, jumped beyond usual year over year inflation driven price increases). For most consumer goods, that is. Remember when gas prices took a dive in April/May last year?

Prices for things like guitars and bicycles is fairly inelastic. Many of us would pay 10% more for a bass right now without even thinking of it.

But how many of us would pay 100-200-300% more if demand *really* outstripped supply? Even if it was the last bass on the rack, not many of us would be willing to buy it.

My brother is in the cabin rental biz in Pigeon Forge, TN. He says you can tell if your cabin rental prices are too high if they are sitting empty. If they're still being rented out the price isn't too high.

i feel ya' on the price increase, but the bigger worry should be what you're going to get when you open the box. buying any fender sight unseen, no matter the price, is a roll of the dice at best.

Long story short, the new Classic Vibes are made in the factory where the Vintage Modified line was made. The VM's were okay, but not nearly as good as the CV's.

VM is a completely different line with slightly different specs made to a specific price point. What factory they are built at doesn’t really matter. The two shouldn’t be compared.

Well, that's the thing, the old CV's built in China were effectively discontinued, and the VM's were renamed as the CV.

Those finishes were discontinued so it's an easy way to identify the MIC Squiers. And yes, they were objectively better than the current line.
