Geezer Butler signature pick ups

dont know if this has been covered in the 44 pages of this thread, but is this pickup like the active sets in that you dont need the bridge ground since the pickup is internally grounded?
They don't need to be grounded to the shielding but they do need to be grounded to the bridge. Each set comes with a quick connect cable with a bare end and a little connector that you moosh down with a pair of pliers to connect to your existing bridge ground wire so you don't have to take off the bridge.

Should fit no problem, assuming the Aerodyne is made with a standard bridge-sized J, which is 3.7 inches long. Measure your current pickup to be sure, but I'm almost positive it'll fit.

Cool! Also I heard that the J is also strong enough to individually stand on it's own along with it being noiseless, could anyone confirm bass/mid/treble numbers on both the P and the J like DiMarzio does on their website?
Not in my opinion. The P is awesome and greatly overpowers the jazz. Both at 100% sucked out mids and fullness. Pretty typical of most PJ sets though. I'm definitely looking forward to the JJ set when it comes out.

Standing on its own is different from blending the two ;) I do think it stands on its own, and despite the usual volume cut of a PJ set, I still love the tone you get when you do it and I just use a clean boost to make up for it. And if I don't have a clean boost, I'll just back off the J slightly. A little different tone but a good one IMHO.

So, I've been watching all the geezer talk for a while now and it just hit me. I've got a Squier Short Scale Jag in P/J configuration and I've never been pleased with the bridge pickup. The split P is fantastic but the jazz is just lackluster at best.
Has anyone tried the geezer P/J set in a short scale yet?
Has everyone gone with the stock passive controls or were they wired to an active preamp?

You might want to measure your rear pickup first. The Geezer J is 3.7 inches long, same size as a standard Fender J bridge pickup, but I've heard of some folks who have the shorter neck pickups in the bridge position. I don't know if your Jag is one of them, but it's possible, seeing as it's a shorty. The body can be routed to fit if you have a neck sized hole, but not everyone wants to do that to their basses.
