Well, just a progress report:
I had a bunch of tuning issues with the aluminum nut. Nut replaced, and all is now good.
I obtained a new Dynasty era suit with a spikey cod piece. Thus required protection to the back of the bass.
Protected from cod damage
Okay, it was killing me. I give. The strings not over the pole pieces drove me crazy. Plus, I think this pickup is sensitive to string proximity.
Thus, I am replacing it with a Schaller Roller bridge. While not historically accurate, it was the bridge he used to feature in his first Punishers.
It sticks out a bit, but I'm hoping the G string going right over the pickup pole will give me a tad more presence. The good part about this mod: It's completely reversible!
Also, while disassembled, I felt it was time to buff out the finish to give it some shine, and minimize some of the orange peel leftover after wet sand.
I will post when I get it all assembled

First, I lined up and drilled my new bridge's attachment holes. This required me to drill additional holes, but the mod is completely reversible, and not noticeable.
While all the hardware was removed, I finally got around to polishing the finish. It certainly shined up nicely!

Now ALL the strings ride over the pickup pole pieces.

Ha! She still makes me happy. It's a quirky bass, but once you get to used to it, it becomes a part of you.I'm bumping this just because I love it. What the hell, right?
Truth be told, if I ever make one Gene bass, it'll be the curved-horn Spector with an EMG. But if I make two, this will be the second. If so, would you be willing to share your dimensions? (Maybe you already did...it's been months since I've read the entire thread.)
Many folks poo-pooed this cab. It's a beast. I can easily destroy my guitarists with this rig.

It sits better in a mix due to the CTS drivers having a upper mid bump. I love my flat back 810. I also have two slm cabs that I love too. The b15s thru the cts 810 with a grabber ruled.
