OK, normally I use a cheap Chinese boost knob that is super easy to install and really works very well. However, they are having production problems so I thought I'd improvise.
I'm not nearly smart enough to just make a boost circuit, so I trolled eBay for the cheapest boost pedal that had a knob for lever, this was the winner for $20.

I'm not sure if next months version would have "JAN" on the front or not
SO how hard could it be to adapt this to an onboard effect??

It was jolly nice of them to mark the four wires going to the stomp switch in english. Ground, signal in, LED and signal out.

The gloom and doom crew on another site were telling me that the push/pull 250K pot I wanted to use may not be compatible with the PCB mounted pot. Pish posh I say! I ran jumper wires to ground everything together and tested the circuit as is. It worked as advertised, the PCB pot cranked up the boost as expected. Then I pulled the PCB pot off (sounds easier than it was, everything it way small) and plumbed in the 250K pot and fired it up. If anything, it worked better than before! Yay.
A gentleman in France that I trust for electrics showed me how to make the push pull work for the true bypass and so I wired it up accordingly.

I can't really test it until it's all installed now, but I'm reasonably confident.
