Gene Simmons LoBue Tribute Build

Got the Novak pickup in. Be interesting to see how it sounds compared to the usual sidewinder mudbucker.
More sanding and grainfilling :vomit: next, then onto paint!

The Eastern portion is typical Plain States looking. Lots of nothing but grasslands as far as the eye can see, open range cattle grazing. About mid state there is the Badlands national park, a fairly inhospitable part of the world but it looks really cool.

The western portion is rolling hills, the black hills and all that.

Sturgis is only 30 miles from the Wyoming border, the Devil's Tower is a fairly short ride away.

Close to Sturgis is Bear Butte, so called because it resembles a bear laying down, we rode past this a bunch of times. There's a cool Lakota museum there. It was the site of the largest gathering of Lakota/Sioux in history when they wanted to discuss the growing white man problem.

Doing another LoBue style bass, I'll spare you all the exact same procedures that only change a little when I screw up.
This one differs in that is has a Curtis Novak EB-BSx2 pickup.

The finish will be flat black this time and I'm doing a different kind of onboard boost.

All mahogany with rosewood board, schaller tuners, Hipshot A bridge blah blah..

OK, normally I use a cheap Chinese boost knob that is super easy to install and really works very well. However, they are having production problems so I thought I'd improvise.

I'm not nearly smart enough to just make a boost circuit, so I trolled eBay for the cheapest boost pedal that had a knob for lever, this was the winner for $20.

I'm not sure if next months version would have "JAN" on the front or not :)

SO how hard could it be to adapt this to an onboard effect??

Not much going on in here, especially since I'll be doing away with the jack sockets and stomp switch.

Here's the other side.

It was jolly nice of them to mark the four wires going to the stomp switch in english. Ground, signal in, LED and signal out.

The gloom and doom crew on another site were telling me that the push/pull 250K pot I wanted to use may not be compatible with the PCB mounted pot. Pish posh I say! I ran jumper wires to ground everything together and tested the circuit as is. It worked as advertised, the PCB pot cranked up the boost as expected. Then I pulled the PCB pot off (sounds easier than it was, everything it way small) and plumbed in the 250K pot and fired it up. If anything, it worked better than before! Yay.
A gentleman in France that I trust for electrics showed me how to make the push pull work for the true bypass and so I wired it up accordingly.

I can't really test it until it's all installed now, but I'm reasonably confident.

Can you make a diagram on how you hooked that Push-pull switch up?

I have a Electro Harmonix "Soul Food" pedal which I want to put into my strat to use as an on board boost.
