Good I would think. There was about 2 decades where hardly any apprentices were put on, so there is a shortage and will be for quite some time according to my brother who is a carpenter. Not sure how you approach emigrating nor do I have any idea of the conditions etc.
Great place to live though.

I will say that IMO younger people seem to be getting dumber and dumber...literally unable to speak. Just today I realized I heard someone say "Wishing you well" and that is Greeting card syntax. It use to be words were invented by scholars or learned people. With the information(in formation forms the mind) age anyone can effect others. Now a major contributing factor to the average vocabulary is Prison! Another is the internet where chat speak, IM, and abbreviation's rain supreme.

I see an issue of quality vs quantity. Where quantity wins and the value of each piece of information seems to be degraded. However, this is not to say that the internet is wholly good or bad, I am just pointing out one aspect.

To argue against myself, this is just a new way of communicating, and its hard for people to change habits, because for the most part we operate solely out of habit.

So, to get back to where I was headed, I will agree that we should be careful of our influence on children. But maybe the focus should be less on words and more on actions. How many new bass players learn how to buy and sell gear instead of making what they have work?

Its difficult for me because, everyone thinks they are right in their beliefs so they feel justified in sharing those and enforcing those upon children. At what point do we fall into a pit of despair as we hit in our homes hoping not to have any effect on others.

(Hyperbole...please see it in the above)
Ok, crazy rant is going to end now.

...and that's because, for all of its problems, this is a representative republic and not a democracy. While imperfect, the nature of our country's scattered debate on federalism leads me to think the electoral college is by far a better choice than a direct democracy. The latter would virtually cut out the interests of a large number of people who live in less populated states. With that, I'm done skirting the rules.

I've been saying this all along. It's about quantity NOT quality. If you lower your standards there's a whole world of opportunities out there. That fat chick picking her nose in the waiting room. Hit it. The homely chick muttering to herself on the bus. Hit it. MILF. Hit it. GILF Hit it. Any chick that looks at you funny. Hit it.

Here's a bit of reality for those of you who think that the system is rigged: Democracy works. Voting works. Citizens get exactly what they want.

But people are idiots. We're all idiots. All of us are simply not smart enough to know what's in our own best interests except in the most basic, short sighted terms and the governments we have, no matter what democracy we live in, are exactly the ones that the majority of us demand over and over again.




Never attribute to conspiracy what can best be explained by simple stupidity.

Everyone is too busy. That's a good reason to abandon the modern system of a secular democracy and go back to the good old fashioned dictatorships. Only a few people in charge, trained from birth to govern, and they spend all their time thinking about what's best for us and telling us what to do so we don't have to take time away from our busy schedules to worry about such trivial matters. (see my previous post on why democracy doesn't work).

My favorite bit of insanity is the idea of "dry" and "wet" counties, like they do in Texas. You mean I have to drive all the way across town to get drunk? How the hell am I going to get home? Drive drunk, that's how!

Here in New Orleans we do it right. We've got bars on every corner, and you can buy alcohol anywhere at any time, so you never have go far to get a drink.

With absolutely no respect intended for those that might be offended by the next portion of my post: the above quote is probably the most intelligent thing posted on this site today. Maybe this week.

Everyone loves to bitch and everyone is too busy to do much beyond that.
