Genuine Fenders or Fakes

A link would help - eBay's a big place.

But TB'er makes several kinds of '75 Jazz Bass, including LPB, so I doubt what you saw was a fake.

Here is a red one owned by TB'er.

MIJ 75 reissues are an older bass... when i say older i mean early to mid nineties.
i'm not 100% sure (someone correct me if i wrong) but these MIJ 75 reissues were discontinued. that is probably why they aren't on the website any more.

they are definately not fake. I highly recommend any MIJ 90s fender as the quality control is fantastic. 75's go for a bit more than the 62 reissues.

if you can get one for a bargain then go for it. you wont be disappointed

They are Invalid Link Removed (That's the "official" site to buy Fender MIJ stuff, BTW). As I've said before, I'm not a Fender guy, but one of those in natural with maple neck and black block inlays makes me feel tempted.

Agreed again. You gotta start somewhere.

There are two different posts here, by the way... I think the first one is the one spoken of by OP. It's a mid 90's MIJ 75 Jazz, natural w/ rosewood board and pearl blocks, and the annoying 3-bolt neck. Yep, it's a real Fender - I remember these coming out 15 years ago. For me it was a case of "So Close, And Yet So Far". :roll:

The SECOND one - the one with no feedback - is most certainly a Japanese entrepreneur who has realized that these new cool MIJ basses would be desirable by us Americans (and he's not wrong - we all drooooooled over these basses about 2 months ago), and is offering a way to get them. I hope he's legit.

There is always going to be Fenders made, especially Japan ones, that you'll never see listed on the Fender website.
Japan makes alot of models just for the japanese market, that were never intended to be exported to the States. But there are several folks who make their living bringing stuff like that over here to sell.
Also in the case of USA Fender, they are always coming up with cool limited edition items, and it doesn't get listed on their site or catalogs either.
I remember a few years ago, by the time I heard about the FSR 70's RI Jazz bass in red, white and blue, I was mad because they weren't listed, and by the time I heard of them, the red ones (which is the only color I'd want) were already long discontinued.
