GENZ BENZ Focus Cabs - New and Lightweight

True enough. The quad looks sweet but the 15's would give a super versatile pile of choices. A pair of 15s was the first 10 years of my career. Then 10s then 12s now back to 10s. The uber15 looks to be a versatile cab and y the specs. The Max heads are the bomb. If I had the dual 15s and a 9.2 when I am only running 1/2 boxes that would be perfect

Hey Kirk-how did the Focus cabs sound compared to the Neox cabs?Im wondering the same thing Limeman mentioned-the lower power rating on the Focus line.

Hey I still wanna try one of your Uber115's-I think that is next on my want list!

Note that we are quite conservative with all our ratings. When comparing numbers like this, it pays to recognize that not all manufacturers rate their speakers in the same way. A little common sense goes a long way to insure reliability with any speaker.

What it (hopefully) brings to the table for me is ceramic tone with the neo weight and portability. The other thing that is a bonus is the price; $599 for a Focus 410 vs. roughly $1300 for an Uber! Really curious about the performance difference between the two.

To Me the Focus line is the Ceramic Magnet sound in a Lightweight box at a Price Point that almost anyone can afford with the renowned GB quality and support.

Ceramic tone? I don't know what that even means...play a great neo speaker thru a well designed cab, and you'll never make that statement again :)

I wish I could tell you the EXACT differences between an Uber and the Focus stuff...I played a Focus 410 at the Genz factory and it sounded like a Genz to me, in a very good way. Will it be able to put out the same SPL? Not sure, but I kinda doubt it...I dunno, I thought the Focus stuff sounded great, but the Uber series are named that for a reason, you know?

Kirk! We'll be at the Red Eye Fly in Austin on the 26th...if you're in town, it'd be great to meet up with you...I still haven't really tried Uber 115's or UberQuads in a live setting if you can believe it...not that I'm hurting for a rig :)

Seriously considering a 115/1288 stack and a 9.2 later this year, just for kicks!

There are many folks who really liked the basic voicings of our XB-3 ceramic cabinets but struggled with the weight and also some with the cost. We simply took what we have learned over the years in our Neo and ligher weight products to bring to the table a viable middle ground that appeals to folks who prefer a more traditional voicing but with a lighter weight and not carrying the (now really significant) cost premium of Neo drivers.

Regarding what they sound like, we took some of the more modern voicing concepts that are easier to achieve with Neo speakers (because of possible magent and magnetic circuit geometries) and blended them with the more traditional or older school voicings that we have used in our XB (and other) cabinets by re-thinking some of the basic assumptions of the driver-cabinet-size-weight tradeoffs that we developed and later refined in our lightweight products and came up with something that falls right between many of the Neo and ceramic offerings in the industry. In fact, the weight of the Focus cabinest is lighter and smaller than some Neo offerings but retains a more traditional voicing with a little sprinkling of modern flavor.

This is the best way that I can sum it up. Perhaps some of you who have played the Focus line or who now own them could expand on my description?

I just said Ceramic sound because there is so much talk that Neos sound different.. If it be the magnetic material type or the actual design of the components and speaker itself...I dont know.. Maybe I mis spoke... But yall know what i mean .. I think:)

26th of this month i am in Tulsa area.. then on the 4th of March thru the 8th im in NY... Houston on the 10th. We will eventually meet up.. really looking forward to it..

Being a long time neoX 212 user I would love to know how 2 x Focus 115 vs 2 x neoX 112 or neoX 212 compare. Not so much as in the raw spec sheets but real world application, ie: soloed head to head & in a band setting.

Not that new Genz gear causes me GAS or anything. :D :hiding:

That could very well be. I currently own 3 (non GB) cabs with neos though I like them but at louder volumes they seem to react a bit different than the ceramics I've owned. I heard a friend of mines Glock Quatro with ceramics a few months ago and I thought is sounded fantastic, seemed a bit warmer at high volume but I admit it could be the cab design more than the speakers. Anyway that's what piqued my interested in the Focus line.
