I'm sure this WON"T help your pocket book, but my experience with this type of GAS is that it usually doesn't end well. You WILL submit to it eventually, as all junkies do. I remember telling myself, in regards to the DB750, 'too expensive, too heavy, I need to look at something with more modern tone', and yet now I have one with me at all times.

Then, after I had long since told myself 'no amp will ever do it for me like the DB750', and which I put to the test by going through several alternatives (markbass/ag500/etc), along comes some weird company called.....Jen Ben I think.....and now my perfectly ordered little world is torn asunder!!!!

I know this DOESN"T help you so I apologize!!!

Funny guys. You got a good laugh out of me, and I just about blew coffee all over my desk. Now I hope I make it through a week of NAMM without too much grief ;)

YEah BUT AUS dealer Prices often put amps ina HUGELY different $$$ range to what I COULD grab one from the USA for- including postage:hmm: I SURE wish it WASN'T like this, but (as an example) an SVT-VR sells here for nearly $4K :help:

Some amps-like the Mark BASS range aint too bad in price compared to USA.. but most are a HUGE increase.
I LOVE to support local stores when possible- & just the other day a local store here told me(I'm a regular customer) they'd match ANY price I found online on items they can get.
What store NEED to do. Strings -another e.g. - I can buy 2 sets of 5 string DR's for LESS than the price of ONE set at the local stores here. :(

So I MIGHT get a Streamliner from an AUS distributor, if I'm in the market for one, otherwise I'd be crazy NOT to buy one from your neck o' the woods.
HOPEFULLY the AUS $$ will not be too different. With the AUS $$ nearly the same as the US$$ one CAN hope!!

EA? Don't they make sports video games? Thought: you could hock all your EA Sports Games (Madden/Woods/etc) and use the proceeds to fund another amp. I hear the Streamliner is pretty awesome. I know a guy who knows a guy who says that it spanks any other amp on the market after extensive gig testing, and it's NOT EVEN out yet.

+1 to everything there regarding wacky oz pricing! got my SM12.0 with carry bag and footswitch for about $1050 AUD shipped from US. the best price in Australia i could get at the time was $1700 without the cute genz shoulder bag!

I was thinking about a build like this to pair with a Streamliner. 12mm Birch for the baffle and Auraco for the rest to save weight should come in under 65 lbs. The Eminence 3012LF and Faital W6N8-120 pair nicely and should provide a smooth solid tone with some muscle behind it when driven by 900 watts. For a two way system, I'd really like to hear that slight 1k-3k dip for slightly smoother mids and that 5k-7k rise to put a little air at the top. I'm thinking the Streamliner mid selection should be choice for this with a 220 Hz low mid bump, 600 Hz presence, or 2.5 kHz upper mid for cut. Rich tube overtones for warmth and a tight low end to keep these potent woofers under control might work out pretty well. What do you think?

If I was going for a 3-way, the 18Sound 6ND410 with the Eminence ASD1001S on that nice JBL 90x90 waveguide would be it. But, for a 2-way cone driver system that 6ND410 doesn't extend quite high enough for me. I think that extra 2-3 kHz would do the trick. A 4 ohm single cab under 65 lbs that has enough wump for any occasion short of a large outdoor festival seems ideal. I like my GB Uber 212T and that Berg AE212 looks like best in class for the 212 + tweeter, but for the Streamliner I thought something a little burlier might be more appropriate.

5StringPocket, I really like the fact that your cab is relatively tall and shallow, as opposed to short and deep; I'm sick to death of stubby cabs.

I have a Streamliner reserved, which I have no intention of putting in a rack. I think I'd probably like a cab like yours; I'd like it even more if it were taller and narrower - doesn't need to be 22" wide to accommodate a "naked" Streamliner. :D

The concept seems pretty good but you will want to carefully analayze the impedance curves with your crossover installed to see what the system impedance works out to be. It can be quite a challenge to keep the minimum impedance from falling (well) below 4 ohms nomimal without a lot of work. There is also the problem of the crossover looking like a capacitive load with some configurations (like adding poorly chosen Zobel corrections) which can cause some amps to oscillate and others to blow up.

I have seen several similar cabinets introduced to the marketplace that look like a good idea but had problems similar to what I describe above. If you decide to build one, PM me with the details and I'll look over the electronics to be sure you are ok.
