I do think that it's a natural comparison (MB Fusion vs Sreamliner 6/9), and I definitely look forward to trying them out, head to head, when I get a chance.

Yes, the RH450 and WalkAbout are both fair amps to throw into this "shootout" (the lower power of the WalkAbout, notwithstanding). Another head I just thought of which I think might be in this same tonal ballpark is the SVT-7Pro. It seems like maybe there were some issues early on with the limiter, but I think that's all sorted out. At any rate, considering some of the "targeted tone goals" of the Streamliner, the 7Pro is a fairly logical comparison (though it is larger, heavier, and only has one preamp tube - but it's not that big or that heavy...).

Hey Kirk..what kind of cabs are you using with the 9 when not using backline? Do you use effects much? How does the GB do with f/x in the loop?

I love my walkabout... if this were a true big brother, I might consider trading my DB750.... although I really like this amp! how do you think should compare to the DB750? I know the Aguilar has non-digital power section, but soundwise do you expect it very different?

I'm VERY interested in this comparison myself. I can't seem to find ANY amp that hits me in the chest with each note like the DB750 does. If this Streamliner comes anywhere CLOSE to it, Big Daddy Aggie will be in trouble!

It works pretty well! The one annoying thing it occasionally does is that it marks subscribed threads as read even though you haven't read the new posts in them yet.

Hi Hizzoner, when not using backline I was using aguilar db112s or my gb neox 112s. I was never happy with my Aguilar db's though. To me they didn't take eq well. I just got a pair of uber 1288t cabs yesterday. After only a few minutes with them I noticed how nice they take eq or lack of. I really think there is something to the idea of vertically stacked mid drivers as in the pair of 8s in the 1288.

This amp wont hit the UK for quite a while but I think im going to reserve one and try it out.

I've already decided that I'm happy with my Shuttle 6.0. If I needed to replace it, the Streamliner would be a contender, but the 6.0 has been good to me.

You sure can...if you hit the gain switch (high/low) to high and crank the preamp gain you can send it into overdrive.
Or, you can dial in just the right amount of tube grind set at the low position and turn the gain up as well.

Just a quick clarification - only the ShuttleMAX amps have the Hi/Lo gain switch. The regular Shuttles (3, 6, 9) do not have the switch.

I regretted my recent purchase of a Shuttle 9.0 a bit when I saw the news about this new head... and then the 9.0 came in the mail. It's just about everything I need in an amp, and I'm finding that I really love the parametric mid so I think I would miss it on the Streamliner.

As others have mentioned, the 9.0 is DEVASTATING through an 8x10 and I imagine the Streamliner would be the same.

It doesn't go as far as "grind" in my estimation. With the gain all the way up there is some nice "wool" and colouration but nothing that I would call overdrive. I haven't tried turning the gain and preamp volume up all the way because I live in a populated area.

You can, I was exaggerating a bit. It's pretty difficult to control the volume, though; the lowest click on the master knob is still loud enough to possibly disturb neighbours and a few clicks up takes you into "holy crap this is loud" territory.

When I tested the 9.0, I could get a small amount of 'hair' on the notes but I was only using a passive P bass. I tried with a Stingray and got a little more, but I think if you want grit, the Streamliner is the one.

Yeah, they did something right with that amp for the hit in the chest feeling.

IMO, the GBE1200 does it as well. But just something about that DB750 voicing.

Like others have said, I'm TOTALLY happy with my 9.0.
The SL 900 looks very interesting, but I need to hear one before I give up my 9.0. Not gonna walk blindly into a new amp- even though I could pretty much bet it's pretty damn good sounding.
