So, after having the damn Genz shuttle bag fall off my shoulder and/or my rig when loading in/out, etc for the gazillionth time...
No right or wrong answer, but generally it's best to send the cleanest, hottest signal you can to the board, which is the line signal on the Shuttles. I've found that on some cheaper boards, the line level is too hot, so I switch to mic level if the engineer asks me to.Quick question to those in the know, on the DI switch , Mic or Line?
My experience: The VT Deluxe and Shuttle 9 feel like they are made for each other. The semi-parametric mid on the shuttle lets me add that little goose at 200-250hz that the VT is missing, pretty much completing the sound of that pedal for me.

No prob, and feeding off Agedhorse's response, I think Mic level is probably the "set it and forget it" option. It's usually plenty hot and noise free, and if not they'll probably let you know. You'll be able to tell when you see a disgruntled tech making a beeline towards you with a DI in his hand. Thanks guys, been out this AM and just got back. Again thanks for the fast response.

I would leave it set for mic level. That's what all direct boxes put out, and let's face it, lots of live sound guys are not that bright.
For you slappers out there, what are your opinions re: the Shuttle 9.0 performance in terms of articulation and note immediacy? Would you think the FET solid state channel (on the upcoming Shuttlemax 9.0, for example) be a noticeable difference in performance?
Thanks.
The only way to really compare the responses of the FET and Tube preamps is on one of the heads that have both, such as the GBE's or the Max heads. The reason for that is because you'll be going through the same power section so any differences will be related to the preamp only. The Shuttle 9.0 is different from the Shuttle 6.0 even though they both have a tube front-end.Slapping sounds fine as long as you don't crank the gain on the pre - use the volume. I do prefer the fet of the shuttle 3 for slapping, but I'm not very good at it![]()
Hope that helps!
