Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 Appreciation Thread

The newly announced Shuttle MAX 9 is very tempting. However, after thinking it over I'm so happy with the size, weight, power and tone of my Shuttle 9 that I'm going to take a pass. A Shuttle MAX 18 on the other hand .... :)

I agree.

While my GAS will surely take me to one of the new Genz Benz amps as soon as they hit the streets, I really like my Shuttle 9.0 and have no plans of shucking it.

IMO the size wins over the upcoming Shuttle Max 9.0 though it's certainly not like the new amp is a Lead Sled. ;) Of coarse I still want one anyway.:D

The Streamliner has my interests peaked as well with the three 12ax7 tubes and simpler yet platform.

Again my 9.0 is going nowhere. :bassist:

I didn't mention in my previous post that, although I'll take a pass on the ShuttleMax 9, I do see a Streamliner in my future :hiding:

The idea I like about the Streamliner 900 is the size/weight. It is still small (I think it's deeper IIRC), it still has that 900 watt hammer, but it is something different. I have struggled for some time whether to buy a second 9.0 but haven't because I do not want two amps the same. Nothing else thats been out there interests me. Now either the Shuttle Max 9.0 or the Streamliner would fill the bill of having something different.

Heck maybe I'll just get both.:D:hyper::bassist:

I like the idea of daisy chaining the S9 & 900, having a choice of the two different tones.

Hope you all have a great holiday, and I don't expect an answer soon.;)
My shuttle 9.0 was powering my new 1515/66 and first my mids started crackling and and almost cutting out at very moderate volume.
I fiddled around and found that I can turn the master all the way off and still get a pretty loud signal into the cab just turning the gain and volume of the pre up to 12 o'clock or more? So I switched heads to the shuttlemax 12 and found no similar problem. To eliminate the cab as the issue I put the shuttle 9.0 through an Acme 4 ohm B-2. With the master turned all the way down, the pre gain and volume still send volume, though not as much, through the cab.
Is the master supposed to be able to turn all signal off?

I had some weird things like this happen, even had noise with the volume off. It turned out to be the tube.
Replaced the tube and life went back to normal.

+1. Crackling and popping noises are often a bad tube. I had that in mine right off the bat, likely a defective tube that failed early. I replaced it and perfect ever since. It's also worth checking to see if it has come loose in the socket, it may only need to be reseated.

Yeah thanks guys, I can't get a peep through either cab when the shuttle max 12 is hooked up on tube or Fet when the master is turned off. Mine 9.0 was just put to use although I bought it several months ago. Been waitin for the custom cab for several months as the amp just sat in the box:rolleyes:
I appreciate your experience. Happy holidays!

The magic fairy dust wicked away while it sat. You are supposed to start using these when you get them or the stuff can leak out.

Hope this helps. :D

I would look at the tube first. Shipping is hell on tubes.

Subject change for one momento.

It is a white Christmas in Georgia. I can not believe it.

Thanx guys. I can not believe we have a white Christmas.

Yes this is the Red Planet home in the mountains. I think I'll go outside, look around for a minute, then go in the basement and play my Basses. :D
