Genz-Benz Shuttle Megathread

OK. So i heard the shuttle for the first time tonight with 2 Neox 112Ts, and all i can say is DAMN. I've never seen such a tiny little rig put out such a big sound. Period.

My work schedule and Dennis' gig schedule FINALLY aligned, so I headed out to Dominco's in Folcroft, PA to check out his band (great band name by the way lol.) While Dennis was setting up he played a few notes to check his sound and I thought "Ooh. sweet tone." But the thing is, and this is true among all the genz gear I've played, that same sweet tone he had playing by himself came through perfectly when the whole band was playing. It was so cool to hear the bass blend in perfectly, then when the other instruments backed-off to let Dennis go, he had a great solo tone without any extensive tweaking (i didn't notice any tweaking at all, but Dennis is quick on the knobs lol. No other gear I've played does that as well as the genz gear have heard and used.

The 6.0 is just friggin ridiculous for something that's the size and weight of a small text book. It pushed those 112s cabs to make a "wall of sound" effect that I've heard only through my NV215. Just sick...sick sick sick. lol. PLEASE go out and play one of these for yourselves if you're on the fence. To me, Genz has just totally nailed what bass is supposed to sound like live. It actually lives up to the hype, but you only truly appreciate it once you hear it! :bassist:

I just stopped by a local indie music store in town, I have bought many high end amps there. They are not a GB dealer, but the rep dropped off a 3.010t for them to demo. I plugged in a MTD bass and played a little.
It sounded great. The owner was there and said he's getting a couple more but he'd cut me a great deal on this one. So I walked out the door
with it for $625. I know dealers are selling them for $799 so basically I just had to buy it, although I don't really need it. I use a Berg IP112 with an ht112 under it. This is tone heaven but due to a recent back injury, that ip is becoming a problem for me to lift/move. I'm hoping to use the Shuttle with the ht112 under it for larger venues. Maybe I'll unload the IP
if it is all I hope it to be. I did use the combo at a jazz trio gig last night.
It was a fairly big room and this little combo was up to speed with my 5 string LEJ. The best part was telling people to pick it up! The looks were priceless! Nobody could believe I was getting this sound out of a tiny combo. I look forward to putting it on top of my berg ht112 with it tilted up as a monitor.

It was great to meet you last in person. It was also wonderful to get a second opinion as to am I getting out of this rig what I THINK I am getting out of this rig. I think the 6.0/dual neoX112 is an amazing rig under any situation. It held up to the T.O.P. stuff without an issue and I think that speaks volumes on it's own.
So when are we getting to gether to play with some stuff? Also if you have a gig on a night I have off, let me know I'll bring the 6.0 out for you to play with.

Thanks to all the GB Shuttle cheerleaders for helping me to decide on a Shuttle 6.0 for my new small rig. It totally surpasses all expectations. I kept turning around to look in disbelief at my rig last night. It just doesn't seem possible that something so small could possibly be so powerful and musical. Well done, GB!

Yea there's GTG on the 26th of April in Bensalem at Bass Specialties. 2-5ish...or when glenn finally kicks everyone out lol. I'll most likely be there if I don't have to do the that big gig that I don't have an amp for lol. 3 cabs and no amp...I'm a genius :p

You nailed it when you said Very Musical.. It is very musical in my opinion... i feel i really interacts well with my instrument abd creates a musical voice.. i got many compliments about my tone tonight.. the shuttle 6 is just about perfect for me.. it even handled my LOUD gig well... and ir stays cold to the touch..... incredible...

Well, just got home after another gigusing my shuttle 6.0 and NEOX 212 cabinet. all I can say is wow!! It handled the room perfect. In fact I actually had to turn down the master because it was too loud for the room.
Awesome sound, I am impressed everytime I play with this rig.

I had the gain set about 12:30, the volume set on noon and the master on 3... amazing.

Also thanks for saiving my back!!!!! I used to lug around a GBE 750!!

I played in the lobby at a hockey arena last night with a 5 piece jam band. Great trumpet player. Anyway, I had some PA support (Mackie powered but only the 10" 2-way and no sub) and my 3.0 10T. Heard myself just fine. Easy in and out. Great tone. I - and my band mates - continue to be impressed.

Fits just right for the 3.0-10T . About an inch around the sides - so it's not completely snug, but it helps to get the amp in the bag.

It's an Arriba AC-160 Lighting bag which costs about 40 bucks.
I bought a couple, because it seemed like a good size bag for mic, guitar and power cords as well.

If I spent as much time practicing as I did on TB and Craigslist, I'd probably be good enough to play out - but I've had great luck on craigslist. I've found two 70's P-Basses. That one in the photo is a beat up 71 weighing in at 8 lbs. I just sold the '78 I bought - which was nice, but a few pounds heavier. This one feels right. Sorry to go off topic...
If I was a bass amp dealer that followed this forum, I'd stock up on those bags!

Here's another pic of the Shuttle 3.0 ministack, on a crowded stage. If stage is the right word. I was crammed in between the drumset and the wall ... nice that the ministack has such a small footprint!

This pic is from the same night the live recordings I posted earlier were made, fyi.

p.s. I have a nice gig coming up with a good sized stage! I might just bring the NeoPak and the Neox212t out for kicks, and to try to give an A/B after using the ministack exclusively with this band up til now.
