Genz-Benz Shuttle Megathread

First test. Shuttle 6.0 with one Bag End S15. Bass: Spector Legend 5 with EMG 40P and J with BQC system. Controls on bass flat, volume up all the way. Set tube gain until red light just flashes on hardest hit note. Volume at 12 o'clock, tone controls flat, no filters engaged. I turn the master up just a bit, and WOW! Very loud, very full. With the 40P pick up on full, very loud and low. The EQ seems very usable and musical, I played around with notching some mid frequencies and the tone really opened up. I hook up the second Bag End and my goodness! I don't have much time to play with it now, but will be able to later. This is amazing! I have a larger Bag End 15 on the way, I can't wait to try it out with that one as well. This is going to be fun!

Got to try the 6.0 Head today. Amazing. Easy tones to dial up. Im not a knob tweaker live, and even running everything flat sounded great. I placed an order with the local shop for a 6.0 112. Will take a bit for it to get here, But I like buying local, and gives me something to look forward to.:hyper:

I stand on a small riser just behind what looks like the Playboy bunny symbol.
The bottom of that screen is about 9 foot off the stage, I'm actually just behind/beneth it.

So my Shuttle 6.0 arrived yesterday afternoon. I spent a few hours playing with it before my girlfriend arrived after work. I had promised to make her dinner. I don't know what I was thinking because I knew the amp was coming that afternoon. Live and learn. I was back at it at 9:30 this morning. But back to the point. WOW. I am totally blown away. That little thing delivers in every way. What a nice kick to the chest. And that's through a single GB LS-112T (my only cab right now). I should say that this is the only "main" amp I have ever purchased that wasn't an all tube amp. I'm a rock & roll guy and I love that warm fat tube sound. Last year I had shoulder surgery and was out of work and not able to play. I was forced to sell my Orange AD200 MkIII. I have missed it everyday until yesterday. Out of the box I set the Shuttle flat to start. And it does indeed sound flat and uncolored in any direction. Those knobs are truly meant to be turned as someone said in one of the shuttle threads. I am playing a Bill Nash Jazz Bass w/ Dimarzio pups and using my fingers. It wasn't hard to get a perfect warm punchy fat tube make me smile the rest of the day tone. I ended up with this:

Gain- Between 3-4:00 depending on how hard I was digging. Red light went from always flashing to only flashing on the loudest notes depending on the same.
Input Volume- Between 12-1:00
Low- 2:30
Mid- 1:00
Mid Freq- Varied between 10-11:00
High- 1:00 The tweeter was turned off on the cab.
LF Boost- On
Master- 9:00

I live in an old house and every window downstairs was rattling. I cranked up the master till the Clip/Lim light flashed and it was way too loud to keep the neighbors happy even with the windows closed. That and this GB cab is only rated @ 200 watts. It will be a few weeks before I will be able to afford another higher rated cab so I turned back down. The cab does sound great however and took everything I gave it w/o distorting. I am incredibly happy with my purchase. It does everything I want and then some. It is super simple to figure out and get a great tone from. I got the warm tube grind I wanted with punch to spare and plenty of definition. I have not even opened the manual yet. I would like to thank all the guys who posted reviews in the last month or so. they were very helpful to me in my decision making process. I would especially like to thank Dennis for the Youtube vids, his infectious enthusiasm and mutiple reviews. He was the first poster that piqued my interest in GB. Man Dennis you are one hell of a player. Chops, restraint and style to boot. I also want to say that I am really impressed by the constant attention to these threads by hasbeen and agedhorse. You guys are great. A lot of the questions I had were asked first by other posters and quickly answered by one or both of you. I don't think that there's another company out there with that kind of customer service.

I do have one question of my own. If i run this GB LS-112T rated 200 watts @ 8ohms with another 2x10 cab rated 400 watts @ 8 ohms, does the 600 watts from the shuttle get divided equally between the two cabs? Each getting 300 watts. Or does the 600 watts get divided equally between the three drivers? Each speaker getting 200 watts. Thanks and excuse my rambling. Oh, and I love the retina searing blue lights.

I've had my Shuttle 3.0 for a few weeks now, but have only had 30 minute sessions at music shops so far (I don't have a cab).
I'm about to order an Eden Nemesis 210P to go with it (heard that Eden has a nice warm sound, and thats what I'm going for, besides for a few Red Hot Chili Pepper songs I sometimes play). This is the 1995 model, which is made in the USA. Can anybody comment on this if you've used this, as most of the reviews are for the combo version.

My first Eden righ was a WT330 head into the Nemesis NSP210 and NSP212 cabs. Newer line than yours, but I always liked the Nemesis cabs. That was a great rig. I have also played through the Nemesis combos and liked them a lot. I think you'll like it. One thing on the NSP cabs, not sure if it's the same on the one you're getting, is that there is no tweeter attenuation, so you have to control everything with eq on the head and bass (or an eq pedal or something). This may or may not be a negative for you ... and maybe the 210p does have a tweeter attenuator, who knows?

But anyway, I like the cab. Is it 8 ohm or 4 ohm? 4 would be nice to get the max out of the head, but 8 is nice for being able to add another cab later on, I guess.

very impressive through GB 2x10. would never have guessed how small it was . Until you hold it in your hand, you would not believe it.

Did not have much time to play with the dials, but what I heard was very nice. You can get a little hair with the tube, but never gets into fuzz or sansamp type stuff.

I am wondering how I will like it after playing through an Alembic F1-x / Stewart 2.1 for the last few years.

I know they are different beasts, but curious if anyone has compared/played both.

heard it at NAMM and now we'll have three 6.0s in hopefully 7 days... 2 are already spoken for but we've got a load of cabs to try it out on at the store, I'm looking forward to hearing it through the ol' school Genz 610 we have as well as a PJB 4B, 8B Neo and some of the Trace cabs on hand too.

.......not gonna be a whole lot of work done the day these fellers show up :smug:

Turns out my backup plan is a Hartke 2.5xl...(this is definately), so don't refrain from typing if you know anything about this one!
I'm using it as a stand alone cab, and I have a 5 string (I don't use it that much though), so is this one good for that?
I tried the 4.5xl in a music shop, because they didn't have the 2.5xl, and that was pretty good, but I have seen some bad reviews for this cab.

I had a pair of 2.5's for a while. They are absolutely fantastic sounding cabs IMO.
I think people get blinded by a name badge and price tag a lot, because when I took one of mine to a GTG last year and started playing through it- and there was everything from Berg IP cabs, Epifani, Glockenclang and the like- all high end stuff, I started playing and people stopped and jaws dropped that this little $300-ish 210 was playing with the "big dogs".

A pair of those or even just one, would scream with a 6.0 or 3.0 IMO.

I have the 6.0 to be very "honest". I tried it with each of my four basses quickly last night, and I noticed it sounded different for each bass, in a good way, as in allowing each bass' voice to come through. It was very easy to tweak the amp to get the sounds I wanted and it responded very well to the tweaks to the bass' on board eqs.
