If you added the Ampeg 4x10 in series to give you an 8ohm total load, you'll be OK, but you'll only get 375W, just with more speakers.

But DON'T add the Ampeg cab strait to the other output jack! That will put your cabs in parallel and the load will drop to 2.67ohms (8ohms in parallel with 4ohms) and the Shuttles are not designed to handle below 4ohms. It will damage the amp!

So you mean to daisy chain from the 210 cab to my Ampeg 410 right? this would be running in series right?

--- the 6.0 is 600 watts into 4 ohms. Into an 8 ohm cab you get around half that.

Careful. Regular daisy chaining will results in parallel connection, giving you 2 ohms. That will toast the shuttle. You have to make a special wiring setup to run them in series.

Note, the shuttle will not "toast" but will shut down due to the protection circuits built in. Turn the amp off to reset the protection circuit. (Don't forget to remove the additional load that caused it to drop below 4 ohms).

I had a special series "Y" speaker cable made one time. I plugged the Y into the head, and a cable from each cab into the Y cable. It worked great, but the guy at the store that made it thought I was insane for asking for something like that. Now I have the skills to make something like that for myself.

This far from the normal waying of doing it.

I'd say you should just plug up the ampeg to the shuttle head by it's self, don't hook up the 2x10. That way the amp is seeing 4 ohm, and therefore full 600 watts to the ampeg 4x10 for larger gigs. And just use the combo as is for smaller gigs.

I just picked up a Shuttle 6.0, and I'm also looking at this Bergie stack or possibly the AE112's (slightly cheaper and much lighter!). I'm glad to hear it's a good match up!

I also hope to try out the Genz NeoX112 and Aguilar DB112 before making my final decision. Too many options! :atoz:

Ok here it goes. Got the 6.0 head by itself. I was all set on purchasing a PJB Suitcase but heard that it had a bit of a problem with shutting down if pushed too hard. After much research, thanks to the Shuttle threads, I chose th 6.0 over a LM II. I wanted the versitility of tone and power that the 6.0 offered over the 3.0 for just a bit more $$. But what cab? I needed something small (potential full time RV situation) so I narrowed it down to a Bergie HT 112 EX and PJB 4b. I really thought that the 4b would be a good match for the amp. The Suitcase I think is a bit underpowered. Long story short I got to play the amp through the Bergie and 4b at Bass and Beyond. Both were great. I chose the 4b because it really did go down low and REALLY articulate down there. The treble without having a tweeter is NEVER screechy and the low mid/mid is REALLY good.

I have played in several situations that show its versatility. I play a lot of jazz on a fretless 4 string and just joined a straight up blues band. For jazz it just is amazing. Like I said the low end is there but with so much focus and clarity. When I play with the blues band I take out a wee bit of the upper mids and turn up. In the rehersal situation with drums, guitar and lead vocals I still had room to turn up. I don't know if I needed it but I did get another 4b for the live gigs. What really impressed me was that I played an outside gig with a keyboard/singer. I had the bass at a moderate level and he told me it was too loud?!? So I turned down a smidge, kept things flat. I thought I might need the bass boost but after a couple of tunes took it out. I am really surprized with this combo.

BTW my friend with a Warwick 5 string played through it really loud and again the low B was amazing....

I had a GK 800rb rig a while back. With a GK 115 and 210 cabs. It was replaced by the Walkabout/Whappo Jr rig.

TOTALLY different vibe. GK seemed harsh, rude, really strong, even domineering. Tons of tonal variation from the knobs, especially with the bi-amp and crossover freq control, but always this edgy feel. And able to shake the roof off the building or make the tables jump off the floor. Always impressive, but I didn't love it.

The Walkabout/Whappo has all the strength, but a velvety feel and a sense of complete surround, like the bass was going right through your body, and a feeling of warmth. Plus it can shake the roof off the house. True love here.

The Shuttle 6.0 replaced the Walkabout. Very similar vibe to the Walkabout, just more headroom. And now I'm realizing more sensitivity in the higher freq range. Seems like more variability despite fewer knobs. But still the warmth and control as the Walkabout. And it can shake the roof off the neighbors house! Even bigger love!

If you love the GK sound, I'm not sure you will love the GB sound. Not for lack of volume though.

I brought back the combo, and exchanged it for just the head, and hooked it up to my Ampeg 410HLF and OMG!!

I used my EBMM SR5 with flats and it was thumping better than my SVT 5-PRO! I mean I had the gains at 12 and the main on 3 and it was litteraly shaking the walls! No more breaking my back when it's time to break down. I have 2 gigs this weekend and I can't wait to hear the comments from my bandmates.

Anybody want a SVT5-PRO (50+ pounds)?
