The head is everything I was hoping it was. I used it at band rehearsal yesterday through my Eden 410, and it kicked serious butt with my Roscoe 6.

The FET channel gives more clarity and sparkle than I was EVER able to get out of my Eden. And I dialed in the tube channel so that it gave me just a little bit of drive when I really dug in, and EQ'd it a little "darker" to give me a very, very nice rock tone. I will get a lot of use out of the global shaping functions as well---at least the low and high boost ones.

I didn't find it lacking in low end at all, even on the newer country stuff where I spend a lot of time down lower on the low B string. I also didn't notice any "hollowness" to the sound, either, like I've noticed on other lightweight amps.

The real test will come in a couple weeks when we are back gigging again (with a whole load of new songs:hyper:). It'll get a workout every weekend for about 2 months straight starting then---which also reminds me, I need to get all of our dates listed on our FB page one of these days:hmm:.

And did I mention, the light weight is wonderful? Carrying the amp and footswitch in the GB bag is SO much nicer than carrying around a 50-some lb. rack. Now I can't wait to get the Uber 410 to go with it. That'll save me some more weight over my Eden XLT 410, and after A/B'ing the GB cab with an Eden cab in my local store, will be an upgrade in sound as well. Nothing against Eden AT ALL, but I do prefer the Genz cab over my XLT.

I have always thought the same as you regarding the LMII.. It never did for me what it did for so many on TB.. Thats not to say it is not a good amp.. it certainly meets the market needs at a price point.. just not my thing..
I had an M6 for a while.. nice amp...and as you said... i dont have it anymore though..
But the M6 certainly is not your daddys mesa.. it is articulate and punchy..
I never compared to a my shuttle 9..
but the shuttle can get many different tones.. and im only guessing the tthe 9.2 can do more with the extra FET pre..

I just did an A-B between M6 Carbine and my LMII and the M6 blew it out of the water in terms of presence, punch, clarity. The LMII suddenly sounded congested and like a passive tone control was rolled way down. (with no VLE or VPF in the mix)

So now I am rethinking my amp choice with the Mesa M6 being a front runner, except for one thing....I love the back-friendly Mirco amp factor. So the Shuttle 9.0 is quite appealing. Or Shuttle 9.2 or Streamliner. So many choices! It's a good time to be a bass player!

I decided to do an audio clip that focused exclusively on this Shuttle MAX 9.2 head so ya'll could hear it as I put it through it's paces. Ideally, there would have been video to accompany this so I wouldn't have to expend so much vocal energy calling out the settings... but that's for another building! Here at our Rocket Music 1.0 store, audio is just a whole lot easier to do...

This signal chain was:
King Koa -> Boss RC20XL -> Shuttle MAX 9.2 -> UBER Quad/UBER 115 -> MXL Genesis mic -> M-Audio FastTrack Ultra 8R USB Interface

I think the rest is explained in the audio itself. Enjoy the demo!

My 9.0 has been stellar for gigs. It's been used as a DI/monitor mostly but from rehearsals I'd imagine it would rock if I ever needed it as a stand alone rig with out DI to the house. Don't think I need more EQ. The tone really is me, I've never been happier with tone.

That being said, I'd give extra love to the same amp with two channels, one for effects and one for clean tone...that would be phenomenal!

What type of cab(s) will you be running?

I just heard the 9.2 for the first time this weekend at a GTG Paired with a Berg HT112. SMOKED! Kept up with all and exceeded some of the other rigs there. Tone wise I think it's a Swiss Army Knife, or Prego pasta sauce. As they say,"It's in there".

It can't get quite as warm as the Streamliner but it's more versatile if you're used to modern tone.

If I had the dough, the 9.2 or Streamliner would be my pick.;)

I'd hafta demo the two solo to make a final choice. I heard the 9.2 solo and it's GREAT. The Streamliner would hafta be like drawers straight out of the dryer to beat it.:smug:

I'll be using it with a TecAmp S212 (the first version). Hard for me to describe the tone of the cab, but it is grindy in the mids, very smooth up top (although it has a unique variable crossover that completely changes the flavor of the upper treble range) and tight down low.

I'm using it with an LMII right now and that matchup sounds great. Just looking for another head to add to the arsenal. I thought about the Streamliner, but after checking it out it wasn't really my thing. I generally like a warm but modern tone (which is why the LMII is my favorite head to date.)

I think it got a bit over-shadowed by all the Streamliner Buzz.

I think that is a real shame.

I'd absolutely own one of these if I had the spare change (is that an oxymoron?).

This thing has to be one of the most versatile amps on the market (especially in the light-weight catagory).

I haven't auditioned them yet, but I'm pretty sure that an SM9.2 and a vertically stacked pair of Uber 210's would really float my boat for my tone goals -- Solid, powerful-yet-tight low end, punchy mid-bass/low mids, articulate, clear, and clean mids & highs!

+1...It came out at the same time as the Streamliner, which was something completely new, while the SM9.2 was a combination of features that had already been available (ShuttleMax preamp combined with 900 power amp that was basically already on the S9 - minus the 3DPM system.)

But yeah - the 9.2 is definitely the amp that has my attention right now.
