Genz Benz Streamliner, Part 10

Excellent. The guys at Fender UK seem to have the customer service thing figured out pretty well it seems.

The noise persisted after swapping all tubes. So, for a second time I tried isolating the amp from the cab.
This time it worked.
Perhaps one or more original tubes was microphonic in addition to the vibration factor.
Now the corner of a half-inch thick yoga mat is resting between the cab and amp.
With seven more shows this month I'm excited to put some miles on this still new-to-me amp.

I got my Streamliner 900 several years ago. (I've posted the pic of the night I got it, with the SL 900 on the kitchen counter along with a EBMM Stingray HH, headphones and a glass of cognac - the real backstory was that I was sick as a dog that night and couldn't even get downstairs to the practice space.)

Anyway - this amp has turned out to be a fantastic workhorse in every respect. I've gigged it so often I've lost count, in all kinds of gigs with all kinds of cabs, or no cabs and just through the PA. Even now I'm learning how better to tune it. The "Loudness" dial is a real x factor. People love the sound from this amp. I'm starting to get anxious that, with Genz Benz gone, I will never find a good replacement if this SL 900 should happen to give up the ghost. (Not that it's showing any signs that it will.)

I gigged my Streamliner 600 for the first time on Friday in the OC with my SWR Workingman's 410 (at last).

It didn't seem that loud at first, but the band kept telling me to turn down. The guitarist was playing a Fender Blues Deville 212, and the PA was a pair of QSC K8s with no subwoofer. I was down to about 11:00 on the master at it was plenty. I hadn't played a show in about 10 years, and after a few drinks, my ears for good balance in the sonic mix were compromised: I wanted to rock!

A mosh pit ensued and I contemplated how I felt about that. Am I too old for that? I'm a music theory teacher. Yeah, I probably am. I grew up in the OC but left for LA years ago. Somehow the kids in the OC seem to have a legacy of suburban aggression, yet I'm no fan of generalization, but that was my experience. Next show is home at the Echo.

I had very positive feedback despite a few requests to turn down.

Streamliner 600 is a keeper! (is the 900 even necessary?)

I love that picture!

Ive been gigging mine steadily for close to two years now and it has never given me a problem. I feel like I want to horde a couple of these for future use. I still want a ShuttleMax 9.2 to go along with it for a different flavor, but this head will be with me for a very long time.

Streamliner today with my new very aggressive Maple board g&l lb-100 . totally awesome. This bass is almost too clear, very grindy so i wanted to dial that back with some warmer lows and more pillow streamliner tone. Great combo! The streamliner let's me get closer to that vintage fender p vibe as the lb-100 pickup is over wound.

The streamliner continues to be the perfect amp to dial back aggression if your bass and cab need some warmth

Smoke and mirrors can be used to good effect with a Streamliner.

I just picked up a Streamliner 900 amp and recorded a jam with my band at practice last night. This is my Fender AMst P5 with 7 year old TI Jazz flats straight from the DI with no processing. I set the DI to post eq so the signal is running through 3 tubes. Bass is up a little mids at 600hz are down a little and treble is down a little. The tone control on the bass is rolled all the way off.



Love Love Love this amp!

I love the bass tone. Definitely hear the streamliner tone. I think the delay on all the rest of the instruments is a bit overpowering at times, If I can make a suggestion, less is more there. But overall, really a cool vibe in that tune.

Great tone! Definitely what I was looking for when I bought both of my 900s [one new, and one used from TB]. Thanks for the settings info. I'll keep them in mind for my reggae and blues stuff.

I do love all the space in the bass line. Great discipline to minimize such.

Keep on jammin'!

Thanks Glad you liked the track. This was just a jam, I'll be going through the rest of the recordings tonight and will post something more organized if it is good. Our drummer got a delay pedal so he went kind of nuts with it:hyper: He is actually a great disciplined drummer.

This is completely great poopie man

People that sell this amp & hate on it, just dont understand just how good it is AT ITS THING. Its not a versatile amp but its just money for THIS exact stuff\tone
