Just took delivery of a used Streamliner 600 and paired it with a Bergantino HT112 and it sounds incredible! Can't wait to gig it tonight! My crafter acoustic fretless and Peavy Grind 6 sound phat yet defined.

Genz Benz Streamliner, Part 10

Man. Knowing I'm late to the party I must say this amp is increasingly impressive. It passed the rehearsal test on first use. These last two days we've done a lot of solo A/B-ing with the WalkAbout (of course).
I spent enough time comparing several amps next to the WalkAbout (Shuttle 9.0, Little Mark III & Little Mark Tube, TH500) and too much time here reading other players' opinions. I remember folks being divided on WalkAbout vs. Streamliner. Out of all trials, I have found the Streamliner to be closer to the WalkAbout than any others mentioned above. I do have seemingly ideal cabs for both heads, and maybe the flatwounds bring them a bit closer in my head than rounds might.
With the NX2-212T I am running the bass at around 10/11 o'clock, 2.5K mid boosted to about 2:30, high slightly below noon.
The ML112 is similar but mid set @ 600 with slight adjustments to the bass and treble. This works great...at home, solo.
Boosting the mids really does get it there for me, and it may have a slightly faster response than the WalkAbout. The Streamliner fits more into my idea of "punchy" than the WalkAbout. And all that clean headroom...
I prefer the WalkAbout preamp overdrive by a massive margin.
Looking forward to September. Should have at least 6 gigs (4 in the same room) to get better acquainted.
For the mids, does "cut or boost with a bandwidth approximately 1 octave wide" mean something like 150Hz-300Hz is included when set at 220?

I run the B3K with my Streamliner.
It does seem to like some OD pedals better than others.

Slightly OT, but I would get the same looks on fly in gigs when the Shuttle amps first hit.....
Here is one of the first Shuttle 9.0s that later embarrassed this nice SVT......
The Streamliner does it with ease.....

Here's an action shot, and from right before soundcheck. The 900 just crushed that day... Still OT, i think the "SVT" was the weird SVT 1000 that was out for a while and i'm not sure about the cab. It had "what appeared to be" 2 separate grill cloths. I've never used an Ampeg 810 that looked like that.

Off topic a bit, but my GB shuttle 6.2 12t and extension 12t cab do a pretty great job. I've never turned the head past noon in any room, and every bigger gig runs through the PA anyway. I'm sure a pair of Neox 112's and a Streamliner sound great, but the two 12t's run with 600 watts from the Shuttle 6.2, not even breathing hard and sounding huge. And light as a large feather pillow! If anyone can provide a direct comparison the the two setups, please chime in.

Running my Streamliner 900 at higher volume I sometimes notice a sound coming from the cab. It sounds like a mix of whistling and rattling glass and only happens with one or two notes in each octave. I have tried different cabs, amps, cables and basses to be sure it is the Streamliner.
Any ideas? My only thought is a preamp tube issue. But I haven't found time to swap tubes, so I thought to check here before opening the amps.

Sounds like a microphonic preamp tube to me, but perhaps wait for AgedHorse's input

It might be a slightly "mechanically noisy" tube. Have you isolated the head from the cab, perhaps with a soft pad, so that the cabinet vibrations don't transmit to the head? That might help to isolate this as a tube issue or something else.

Thanks for the responses, gentlemen. The ringing/whistling did still occur when the amp was sitting on a separate, inactive cab. I need to get in there and do some swapping using the tubes in my other head.
First show with the Streamliner will be Monday night. Played this place a couple of times with the WalkAbout and curious how different the Streamliner will feel and sound. Really looking forward to adjusting my stage volume or eq without affecting the DI.

I guess I'm the newest member of the Genz Benz Streamliner 600 club.
So far (got it today) I've only had the opportunity to use it as a pre-amp to power a QSC K10, which I used as bass amp before (I'm really a guitarist). I'll have to test the "face-melt" potential later.
My Gear
I'm playing a Washburn XB400 and a Schecter Hellcat VI with bunch of guitar gadgets (dirt, boost, modulation, delay, reverb) and I'll eventually get to use the STR-600 with my SWR Workingman's 410 at 8 ohms, and MAYBE a Carvin PB115 at 8 ohms.
My Style
I play postpunk stuff. I love chorus on bass (go ahead, mock me!) and a little overdrive and fuzz too, as long as I don't lose low end (I'm thinking an MXR Bass Fuzz Deluxe would do a better job than my lovely Wren and Cuff Box of War). I don't slap or play funk. I like the bass lines in Tones on Tail, and maybe a little Peter Hookish stuff with the Hellcat VI.
Sonic Goals
I want to cut-through and provide plenty of low-end without enshrouding my fellow musicians in low frequencies: to provide the proper place in the mix in a variety of venues.
I figure that 375/600 watts is more than enough to cover venues from the Troubadour to Satellite (Hollywood represent)--surely I'm mistaken.
Cabs
All the cabinet suggestions scare me. I've read lots about not mixing speaker sizes, driver sizes, and a bunch of other stuff I don't understand. I weigh 120 pounds, so I'm thinking about selling the SWR 410 (100 pounds) for some neos. "Looks" are more important for my band than for me, and they would prefer I play Ampeg. I think 2 or 3 210s stacked vertically looks rather sexy, and they would have that Grateful Dead tall-stack appeal, but you and I (you know who you are), we're poor. We've read that Avatar 210s neos are great, but they are less efficient than GB Neox210s. And yet, the idea of a 6x8 cab kind of excites me, but I'm dumb when it comes to cabs, and the pairing of cabs with cabs, and cabs with amps. I'm also weary of "whatever sounds good to you" bro science, especially since what sounds good to when I'm standing in front of the amp is not what would sound good to me standing amongst a room full of people in a crowded venue. And then back to that issue of efficiency: does efficiency necessarily sound better? Or to put it another way, might inefficiency (on some level) help break through? Might an inefficient 810 cab perform better than an efficient 210 cab? I'm dangerously toeing the line between acoustics and subjectivity, but I suppose we all do that.

I have one doubt about the headphone output of the streamliner.
On the manual it say that only use headphones, but i'm now facing a stage change and that's why i need help.
We are thinking on the possibility of take out all stage monitors to start using In ear monitors, but i want to use both bass output and the stage mixing sound input.
About the streamliner there is no problem of work with no cabs, so i can use it as a DI send, but now my question is:
- Can i connect the headphone output to a mixer desk input or will damage it or connect to the send output?
This way i could connect another input with the stage mix in a mixer to get both "my sound" and "stage sound" continuing with eq and typical STM sound, or the best is get one DI box but lose the eq and valve sound option?

OK peeps, I need some help!
I am in full freak out. Last week I noted that my Streamie 900 seemed to be playing more quietly than normal. Sunday night I was at a gig and power output section seems to be coughing up no more than 10 watts tops. I was smart enough to have my Reiner with me so I swapped them out.
I love this head. It is my go to (not so) little rig power choice. It has well over a hundred gigs on it and I have never ever had a single problem.
I am praying that it's a tube problem.
Can anyone tell me how service works now that Fender is involved?
I would be grateful for suggestions. I have no back up right now and do not want to go and buy yet another head.

The headphone output is for headphones only, do not connect it to anything else. This is why the manual says this.

The guy you need to talk to is Agedhorse. He is the designer of the amp and a regular on any Genz thread. He works for MESA now but he does service Genz heads still and is as helpful and great a resource as you could ever want.
My guess is he'll probably chime in himself but go ahead and shoot him a PM. He will help.
