I tried it a while back.
It’s massive!!
But it works - you just have to keep the volume way down.

I bet I did all the pickups - playing my Jazz. just messing around in the practice room getting sounds.
That setting really helped me wrap my mind around how the EQ and gain stages work.
It’s a great amp. I wouldn’t use a lot of the sounds, but you can’t really find a bad sound.
That's why I stated that the Ray34 ran with the bass up to 10:00 on the Streamliner was awesome. Single rear pickup. I probably could have gone even higher on the bass, but at 10:00 I didn't see the need to go any higher. It was that good.
I used a 72' J bass with bridge pup only with a NeoX 2x12. I was able to roll the bass knob up to nearly 3:00 and it was awesome. Sounded nothing like a J bass but really nice. BTW, this J bass has reasonably low output like most from that era.
It's really interesting how different settings of gain structures affect the tone and "feel" of the amp. It's really something new for me. Since I prefer a cleanish tone I like the gain at noon - 1:00 and have been keeping the volume at about 2:30 and up. Really interesting how the treble response and touch sensitivity increases as the volume goes from noon - 5:00 max position. At 5:00 the input sensitivity is really hot and the instrument really sings. Playing with one hand is very easy and the treble gets pretty bright. Lowering the volume to noon - 1:00 makes it behave in a more normal fashion.
I only have 19" EQ's but did find an older Boss parametric pedal kicking around. Probably not nearly as nice as the EQ's other have used but was really surprised how cutting just a tiny bit of low and presence really made the amp loose the clanky fret noise and deep bottom issue. This was also with a HPF and the amp as pictured. There is a whole lot of something something going on inside IMO!

Streamliners are Bassilicious!
Seeing this thread made me pull out my STL 900.
I picked mine up a few months before COVId hit. Gigged it about 4 times. Great head.
Got a gig Saturday. Fender Rumble 500 combo or Super Bassman going out. Can’t decide which one, the opener is using our gear.

You're a Better, Kinder and MUCH more Generous guy than me. It will be a VERY Cold Day in Hell before anyone uses my Gear again. I did it once. Cost me TWO Blown JBL D140's that the "Opener" couldn't pay me for. Best of Luck to You.

Got to spend a an hour or so testing today.
My opinion is the Streamliner is awesome but not a one size fits all amp. It does some things perfectly! That Ampeg growl with very slight to moderate break up is awesome. But I have been blaming my new to me GB cabinet for some of the lack of clarity. The one at home is mint but the one I'm close to has a slight grill rattle, non working tweeter, and another funky rattle. I had thought that this cabinet might be contributing to some of the "harmonic richness".
Turns out the STR 600 is not able to be a super clean, channel strip style amp. Just so happens that a Berg HT322, SWR 600, and Ashdown ABM 500 were all at this house and these can be adjusted to be surgically clear and clean (ABM 500 pre-amp tube off). I don't find that the STR does super clean well. OTOH the SWR (and ABM to a lesser degree) give the funk of the STR. Will be good to try with a band tomorrow. Pictures or it didn't happen.

hmm....the Streamliner should be able to run very clean. It was voiced after my Sadowsky SA200 which is undeniably "tubey" sounding, but can still be clean.
After lowering the bass slightly (as shown in the picture above) and with a HPF, I don't hear/feel the compression and the peak light has never lit. Could it be that I'm pushing the amp too hard for clean? The other two amps are rated at 500 watts so it doesn't seem like a bad comparison.
Happy to try other settings although very understandable that these minor details may not be remembered from a long time ago.

I think having your volume up that high might have something to do with it. Have you tried increasing the master and lowering the volume?
I've had the gain and volume at noon but can't get enough volume with the master.
Perhaps this might be due to using a bass with a low output. I will try with a little bit of clean boost between the bass and the amp.
The harder you drive the input the dirtier (subjective term) the amp will be.
If you want clean, try unpressing the gain button and adjust from there.
I would turn the gain down to about 11 o’clock, the volume up to ~3 o’clock and use the master for volume.
I haven’t played a Berg HT322 but I’m sure it can be extremely loud. In the end, the Streamliner may not do the job for you. There’s no “one size fits all”.
I second this.
I noticed the little yellow light next to the mute. That is tons of extra gain, which means more dirt.
I think of it like a pre/ power rig.
Where the gain and vol are like a gain and master on a preamp,, and the Master on the STL is like the level on your power amp.
Put the master at 3:00, the Vol at 3:00, and then bring the sound up with the gain control. - that should keep things pretty clean.
