If you want clear and focused, you might want to consider a Phil Jones C8. Nothing articulates quite like a Phil Jones cab IMO. My C8 handles my Streamliner 900 nicely.

Genz Benz Streamliner, Part 10

I can confirm the Sovtek 12AX7 LP is garbage. Had a practice with the Sovtek in V2 and the volume was low, obviously something was wrong. Got home, pulled the tube, replaced it with a Mesa, and bingo! Volume is back.
Custom builds by Jeff Swanson in Beverly, MA. The 12" speakers are the Genz-Benz close outs sold by Avatar some years ago.

To reply to the last couple months of comments, I'm also still loving my Streamliner! The other amp I use is a Shuttlemax 9.2, and they both get used equally as much I'd say, depending on the gig. I also have the apparently elusive rack ears. I pair the amps with these Baer ML112s, LDS sealed 610, or a Genz Neox 212t.

I go for a clean SVT sound through a NeoX2x12 and usually use Ampeg tube pre's.
Surprisingly I don't recall many folks suggesting the Streamliner over the years for the usual "lightweight SVT, or WA with more power" request. Assuming it works for Tuesday's rehearsal, this could be a game changer for me.
Do you guys recommend the 900 over the 600 for use with a single 2x12 knowing my goals are clean, punchy, and warm?

The 600 is a great match for that cabinet. Mine pushes its successor cabinet, Magellan 212T. The Genz working of the power section rewards being pushed a bit harder.
Oh I’ve been saying that for years here, my SL is my favorite class D for that very reason.
There is a thread somewhere (I think) where @johnk_10 compares the STL and the SVT. It was probably YEARS ago when the STL first came out. I think he gives some "SVT Settings."
There are over 10K posts in the main Streamliner thread... and several other threads, so might take some searching to find it... or maybe someone will chime in.
But yes... big clean tube amp - thats why I use it. WA with more power, Dual Showman sounds, SVT etc... I think the STL is very heavily influenced by the Sadowsky SA200... which seems to have a pretty good reputation.
As far as power, there are those that say they have the STL 600 and have never wanted for more power. I have a 900 - because that was what was FS at the time. My impression is that the 600 would have plenty of headroom for "clean, punchy, and warm."
I wrote a bunch of those down back then...and somehow still have the card.
On the SVT, the vol. and gain is 2 or 3 o'clock.

Found the John K thread which is awesome and started going through the tone primer.
Getting through 66 pages of this thread took a few minutes but all worth it.
What I thought was going to be a long shoot-out went really quickly today. All the amps pictured clearly had there own awesome sound but I was surprised how much I like the Streamliner. Can't wait to try it at rehearsal Thursday.
Quick thought: I was playing at gig volume (based on known setting for the other amps) and I felt that while the Streamliner had plenty of volume, there were time that it felt like there was compression being applied. It just "felt" a little squishy. My thinking is that this is what the designers were going for as it starts to feel like an SVT (through a 2x12 cabinet), but can remain clean.
I've located a 600 and a 900 and am thinking that I might get a little more dynamics with a few more horsepower. Anyone agree?
The LED never lit and the tone did not get distorted.
Maybe I'm bumping up against the 3DPM management system?

@Jim C ---- Yes you are hitting the 3DPM at that point. certainly the 900 was the most popular of the 2 amps.
@Jeff Genzler - Thanks Jeff. Sounds like the 900 could give me a little more headroom before hitting the 3DPM threshold?

Get the 900 for sure. I've been using one since they came out and absolutely love it!

The first time I hit the 3DPM I was using 2 TC Electronic RS210's and not only did it sound fantastic, it was hitting the stage pretty hard. For that reason alone I decided not to pursue a Streamliner 900. It is very rare when I can get the Streamliner 600 to that volume so I probably would never reach the 3DPM with the 900.
