Genz Benz Streamliner Part 3!!!!

I've never tried any GB products, but I am really intrigued. The Streamliner is on my list for sure.

There was a thread a while back about how wonderful the Uber 410 was, and the description sounded perfect for me. Now I don't hear too much about it. Is there a new flavor of the month, or what? For a thick, assertive, aggressive but versatile and eq-able tone (with plenty of power and air movement), what's the current vote? I would use it with my Eden WT-400 and also with one of the new micros once I decide (Streamliner 900, GK MB Fusion, Aguilar TH500, etc).

Conspicuously absent is a Rob Allen ;). I did a quick and dirty with the Deep 5 last night (emphasis on the dirty). Interesting to run the grit up with that bass. I'll try some high gain settings at the gig tonight

ya know....I'd really like one. I love the dry sound I was able to coax out of one. I like roundwounds on fretless.....with an Allen though, I love it with the tapewounds it had on it.

I run nickel roundwounds on the Roscoe, the nylon tapes on the RA. Totally different instruments. Was doing to blind A/B tests with the g/f last night. She never fails to pick out the RA, and her comment is that is has way more "deep" than any of my other basses. Or maybe it is just the extra "ooomf."

End of March? Oh, man. :(

You might want to let Mark at Bassdirect know. I think he's under the impression it's a bit earlier than that....

his might be a different shipment. All I "see" is what is going into our distribution center in Roterdam.

No new flavor....The Uber 410 is still a wonderful cab!!! I can only imagine how awesome a Streamliner 900 would sound through it!!

Thanks for the reply Joey!

I'm looking for the "ultimate solution" standalone cab for rock gigs with no PA support. I like a thick midrange, not a hifi scoop, and I want something that responds well to the low B (full and discernable pitch without boominess or excessive hugeness). Does the Uber 410 sound like the right prescription? I was considering the berg AE410. Both of these cabs are kind of hard for me to try out, so I'm trying to narrow the field before I start hunting them down to audition.

I don't! I've lived it!

The lows are deep but very clear. The low B on my Dingwall never sounded so deep and defined, even compared to my GBE 1200, as it did through the Streamliner. The mids on the 410 are very strong and well-defined. There is a slight dip in the upper mid-response, which was on purpose to make it sound a bit less modern and to ensure there is no honk whatsoever.

The highs are very nice, with a bit of old-school wool to them, but the Streamliner smoothed them out very nicely.

Now, on the other hand, I can only imagine how awesome the Streamliner sounds with the 1288! Me want to hear!

Yeah, I'd love to hear that comparison (Ub410 to Quad)!

They have both the Uber 410 and the Uber Quad at our local store. No Streamliner though, just a 9.0. I have tried it a little with both...both cabs are awesome, but I think I might lean to the 410. It's so nice and tight, lots of lows, good mid, sweet highs. Yum.

The Quad is no slouch, either. I like it a lot. I think if I were to go with a "bigger" cab though I'd probably go 410. But that's just me.
