Just FYI.... I'm rethinking the 'clean' tone of this amp. It is very, very good with that tube gain knob way down and the volume cranked a bit. Still not 'solid state snap' that I prefer personally for my ash/maple/stainless steel tone, but that is just IMO... many would find it better. Totally clean, but VERY warm and fat and round, with a very sweet top end.
Again, though, been there done that, and there are a lot of amps IMO that can cover that vibe in one form or the other. I am TOTALLY not into overdrive, but this amp comes to life with just a bit of tube gain... that touch of tube 'drive' that gives a passive instrument (especially a P) some life and character.
VERY impressive box.
I'll get some clips up sometime today, focusing on clean and 'warmer' tones and comparing to the RH450, which is another amp that can of has this design goal delivered in a different way (i.e., a bit tubey and vintage sounding).
I dunno Ken, first you get a P-bass, and a passive one at that, now a tubey style head..... I'm thinking you'll be breakin out the pick anyday now... come over to the dark side
