Genz-Benz Streamliner Part 6

The Jester; give the Streamliner ample time for you to warm up to. You need to play and gig this head until IT is what you are used to in order to truly gauge compatability. It took me 2 weeks gigging 5 days per week to 'Get It.' It will take some time imo considering what you are used to. Cheers!
My local Genz Benz dealer is getting these in stock in May so I'm pre-ordering the Streamliner 900 next Wednesday when I have some cash. I'm excited

Less barking, more wagging!
The Streamliner makes me miss my old 4ohm Schroeder 15+L. Man, I bet that cab would be a killer matchup with this head. I have a new potential gig lined up in the area where I won't need a whole lot of volume, and the AE410 I'm ordering soon will be too much. The LMII on the 15+L was really nice, but I think the SL900 would bit just about perfect. Might have to give Jorg a call soon. Or maybe pickup an AE112, or perhaps go dual AE210's or AE112's instead of the AE410?

Thinking of getting a STL600.....would it be a good match for a 4 ohm Shroeder 12+L Mini? Or should I just use 2 8ohm cabs? My 8 ohm cab would be MarkBass NY 121 which I normally use with my MB CMD121P combo....I could use the STL600 with both the NY121 and the combo (keep the LMII head as back up since it's already there)....or am I breaking down with a GAS attack and just keep what I have? or get the STL600 and get Duke to build me a TC????? Questions, questions, questions....my head is buzzing...
Speaking of Cake....did anyone see them on "Guitar Center Presents"? His P sounding nice....thick, fat and round. Just a great tone.

You can certainly use either cab. Keep in mind though that with the Schroeder, you'll be running 600 watts into a single 12. No matter how many watts you put into a single 12, it will only move so much air. For this reason, I think you'd be better off going with two, 8 ohm cabinets...in other words, adding a second 12 to your Markbass, if you like the sound of the Markbass.
+1 I guess my only comment would be that the Thunderchild is a VERY different animal than most 12's, and especially the little Schroeder 12. Much more even, MUCH more low end, and a combination of modest sensitivity but very high power handling (both mechanical and thermal). That was a long winded way of saying that the Streamliner600 with the 4ohm Thunderchild would be a beautiful matchup (assuming the OP wants it more warm, full, smooth, fat, and creamy, versus the aggressive mid punch of the little Schroe's).
I have a clip of my Streamliner900/Thunderchild rig on my Youtube channel if the OP is interested in hearing that combination with a reasonably aggressive 70's style J. The 600 would be plenty to drive that cab to full performance IMO.
I had a pair of the AE112's I used with my Shuttle 9.0 that I hated. Too much peak at around 1k. I ended up taking them back and getting the HT112ER cabs. Wide Glide Fat Boy Tone.

I agree. I was going more on the email I received from the dealer....who didn't really specify that cab. Also, since they are thinking about that cab, I would assume they aren't going into a loud-metal situation.
I've been lurking here for a while now, reading reviews and comments and listening to the various clips of the SL900 and Max 9.2. I'm in the market for a second amplifier head now and a cab to go with it eventually. I've been looking around for the past two months or so. The Genz Benz reputation, not to mention the high quality of everything I've heard, has me at a decision point between the SL900 and the Shuttlemax 9.2. Any advice you guys could offer would be really helpful!
Here's my situation and pretty broadly-defined tone goals: I'm playing primarily in a jazz quartet that has played in a variety of spaces, from small and awkward to a huge indoor horse training facility (it's a long story). I also play with another group doing rock/blues/folksy stuff. My primary setup is a Lakland 4-94 played through a TC RH450 with an RS210+RS212 (mixed and matched depending on the room). I transitioned to this amp setup from a Hartke setup that was far too bright, pingy, and ganky for my liking. To my ears, this was a huge step forward, but I sometimes feel like whatever variations I try to make in tone via bass controls or my relatively small set of effects get lost in the RH450's tenacious voicing. That said, I love the warmth of the RH450 and its tone is (bass@125hz boosted slightly, low mid@250hz boosted slightly, mid@2000hz cut slightly, high@4500 boosted slightly) pretty close to what I imagine I want. I like the idea that I can change the EQ profile of the amp, but pretty much stick to that EQ profile or end up coming back to it after trying variations.
I've not had the chance to try the SL900 or the Max 9.2 (they've not made it to local music stores yet), but I have tried the Shuttle 6 and 9 as well as the Max 12.0. All of them sound great to my ears --much more clear and open than my RH450, but more of a blank slate that beg for tweaking before I feel like I'm there. What I'm trying to figure out is which one of these new GB amps (and a matching cab, perhaps down the line) would be better as a second amp+cab setup. I favor a second amp that sounds different over something that's directly redundant, but there should be overlap between the tone that each of the two can achieve. There's no hurry, except for my mild anxiety over being without a backup amp.

If you want the ability to EQ and pick frequencies to EQ. the MAX 9.2 would be the way to go... IMO. You can still dirty it up a little with the GAIN button on the Tube channel if you desire. with 2 channels you also have the ability to go in completely different tonal directions.. Great LOUD amp.. FET and Tube PRe with foot-switching.
