Genz-Benz Streamliner Part 6

I don't play many gigs thru large PA systems, but played a large event with a good size PA the other night. I always send a flat signal to the front of house, but got some gripes that the bass sounded mushy and boomy from the sound guy. I flipped the switch on back from pre-EQ to the post-EQ and voila, the Front of house signal was cleaned up. I had bass and treble flat and mids boosted to 3 o'clock at 2.5k. Is the pre DI signal the the same as the Streamliner when it is set flat? If so, could that explain this issue?

Pre DI on both the Streamliner and the ShutleMax are essentially the same. the Post DI will yield the different voicings... which may or may not be ideal depending on the room, the PA and how much of the house you are hearing on stage.

I see where many here rave for the 900 with AE410. I see what you say about volume. Can you speak to the tonal differences of these cabs you're using with your GB head?

Before I bought the AE I had a Epifani UL series I. To my ears the UL410 had a hole in the middle thats why I changed to the more mid forward AE410.
I´ve hade the AE410 for four years now and played it with different amps including; EBS 350/650, Mesa M6, TC RH 450/Staccato and SWR 550X. It is punchy cab with a upper mid grind that sometimes is hard to tame. The Aguilar SL cabs are much more even with a little more bottom and I prefer that sound before the AE 410 with both the Streamliner and my SWR 550X. That said the AE410 probably one of the best sounding 410 out there and I liked it very much with the TC Rh450 not so much with the Streamliner.

Went to a restaurant with a band playing on the patio and really enjoyed it. The bass player was using a Streamliner though a PJB cab. Sounded great! I would not have thought of that combination.
