I suppose I need to post in this thread so I can keep tabs on the conversation.

Can't wait to get my Streamliner. I have high hopes that this amp and an LDS 15/6 will be the combo that checks all the boxes for me.

thought about adding my last reply so jason could comment if he wanted, but nah...best to let it go ;)

It's all good, Jimmy. I'm not trying to convince you of anything. I think we agree on this but have different tastes. Again my comment was directed more at the mass opinion of people who prefer tube amps around here and have an unrealistic view of them.

Embiggenment is the new black.
Hence the Streamliner.

now with pics for this thread:

1,000 excited threads about a brand new amp!
But what if it doesn't sound very good?
The idea seems like a good one but if it don't groove it's just another...

Jason opened up a can of whomp ass! :ninja:

"At a funk gig with a more modern bass, the big Ampeg rig lacks whomp completely to me. It doesn't punch or kick, and there's little note clarity, even when run fairly clean."

I guess it could depend on what kind of funk. The SVT certainly works in the context of The Meters and The New Mastersounds. Both George Porter Jr. and Pete Shand use the SVT. It certainly sounds good in that context with a P Bass.

Regarding the SVT discussion, I'm keeping my SVT but still expect I'll want one of these. My Shuttle 9.0 has been my #1 since I bought it, but if the Streamliner gives me even more of what the 9.0 does then I'm on it. Waiting for some reviews (and hope to hear one at NAMM here soon too).

WOULD YOU BELIEVE MORE IF WE TYPED IN ALL CAPS AND BIG FONT? HOW ABOUT IF WE HAD THE GODFATHER OF AMP DESIGN INVOLVED IN THE PROJECT?!? YOU JUST WAIT AND SEE!!!!!!! :hiding:

:D

Great concept, great engineers, a company with a solid track record of designing and delivering the goods. Odds are pretty strong...and if not, us early adopters will flip them at a loss on TB. Nothing new here :p
