Genz Benz Streamliner-Pt 2

Its tax time and I just tried out a shuttle 6 and loved it. BUT, this thing with 3 tubes looks sweet. I have a hartke HA3500 and don't use any solid state just the tube pre is all I Like. I play metal and like a punchy, grindy tone with lots of bass treble and mids at noon.

I really liked the options on the shuttle, this thing looks years past that. I emailed my local Genz dealer but not sure if they will get one in to demo, but with all the raveing on this thread its hard not to just bite.

What do you experts think about this for a metalhead like me. This isn't a "is this a good amp for metal question" i just have never played a really "tubey" amp and want to know if you can get that grindy tone im looking for? Thanks for the info on this thread guys, very helpful. :)

hmm....I'm very much into Bona and Marcus. To my ear...."it's in there"....especially with Bona.

?????
Words like "tubey" and "grind" never enter my mind when thinking about those guys. When I saw MM at the Mtl Jazzfest he was spanking a clean, somewhat scooped sounding EBS rig (and his guitarist was a diminutive white dude with lightning fingers who looked like he was having a seizure for the entire show, LOL).

Dean Brown on guitar. He's one of those guys that gives Berklee a bad name:p

And, to be clear, this amp can get nice and clean and crisp, like on Ed's clip (sounds great with my ash/maple Sadowsky with steels). However, it just isn't really its thing IMO, and you can feel that bit of give in the low end when slapped (like a tube amp... I think they describe the limiter in this amp as compressing the low end and leaving the upper freq's alone, which is what I hear... I guess that kind of emulated 'sag' or whatever they call that), versus the more immediate response of other designs. The clean tone is beautiful though.. warm and fat and smooth.
