Genz Cab Love

UB-410 + XB3-410 sounds like the right direction for a little warmer bottom.
NeoX 212 is a great stand alone cab (been using one for years) but, if you're looking for a little warmer maybe consider 2X112 NeoX

Yeah thats what Im thinking of at the moment.I keep reading that these are more modern sounding than the Uber series-I certainly dont want a mid scooped setup. But I havent played them yet.I liked the Uber series, and still may go that way,but they seem quite a bit bigger.I like the form factor of the Neox series if it will work for me.

At one time, I used either a NeoX210T or a 212T, or both. I felt they were the best cabs available. I did sell them both. Not because they lacked anything, but because I had something that I liked better. If I didn't have my current rig, I would use nothing else but GB cabs.

We all know that what we like may not be what someone else likes. With that said, GB cabs are some of the best in the business.

I was an STM-900 owner first, then a few months later decided to sell my Epifani UL-410(2) cab and get a 410T-XB3. Arrived a couple of months ago. I couldn't be happier with the sound. And might I add this cab generally sells for a couple hundred dollars less than comparable high-end cabs. My only nit is that I wish the handles were on the sides rather than the top. Feels easier loading a side-handled cab into the back seat of my car. Imagine I'll adjust.

Thanks everyone-I did a search and didnt find that.Guess I didnt look hard enough.

Any word as to how a single neox12 worked on a small gig.Ive never used a 12 that would cut it.I know it is volume dependent-But Im not sure Id even attempt it.

Here's a thread started by Fretlessboy which has some references to the differences in the sound and also some people using single Neox112T --

Good luck!

Cool-good read.Ya know really Im a huge fan of ceramic drivers(I was a proud owner of a Bergantino HS410 for a good while),but Im to the point where I find myself looking for lighter gear that still sounds good.Tone will always come first of course, but neo has come so far-too bad its now on the endangered list.Further-I love the Uber series cabs that Ive played and would be happy going that direction. But I really like the form factor of the Neox 2x12's or 212.

Hey thanks John-Ill read through it.But......I already took the plunge.I ordered 2 Neox12's.They ship tomorrow.And......I ordered a Streamliner 900.You know Im weak!!So looks like bass day at my house.

Call me-I have a bit of news for ya!!

Depends on the band. My NeoX 212T has never broken a sweat covering our gigs. Not even close. I strongly suspect a 112 would be fine. I've said it before: I was thinking of two 1x12s and went for a 2x12 because it was a lot cheaper, it would transport easier than two 1x12's and I figured I'd always bring the second cab "just in case" anyway.

I love the 212T's form factor - one rack width with kick and roll wheels. Fits through doorways easily and you can roll it if you want to. It's just a little too short, but it's definitely doable.

KO

I like the 212 form factor too-but I pulled the trigger and elected to try 2x212's.Ill give it a go and see what happens. In the end I may pick up a 212 if it turns out I always need both. But I regularly do a trio gig where Im thinking the 212 would be overkill.Im also curious how of if the 2 together will handle my main gig-bigger stages and outdoor shows, but always with PA support.

Good luck with those two, Neox 112's correct?
Let us know how you like em. Hope you did not buy used, cause I got a Neox 112T I prolly need woulda sold ya cheap, coulda shipped it up to ya. I have only used it a few times. Twice at a house party we play every year. It worked great in this huge, mansion of a house, we had to control our volume at first. But as usual giturd starts getting louder thru the nite so I gotta push it abit. I use my P5 or 55-02D w/F1 or LMII, little rig handled it no sweat. And the little kickback foot helps hear it very well. That party is coming up again this Jan 28th, tho I was thinking of using a single TC RS210 with F1/55-02D just for a change. I don't get much use outta my 112T anymore. And I like the tone of the RS210 cab with the F1.

And I've got two Neox 212T cabs that I've used with my Carvin B1500, @ 2 ohms  or Alembic F1-X pre/Crown (D) power amp, stereo. Those cabs can handle everything I throw at them, evertime and I only use 5 string basses. Maybe I'll sell off a 212T and just get another 112T to see how that sounds. I also used the 112T+212T cabs with my 2 ohm modded, GB Neopak for 3x12"s vert stack at a couple clubs last year. That was pretty cool, 112 right up by my ears.

Moving the 212T's are the easiest cabs to load/unload. Got a call last nite at 6pm to sit in at a blues jam that started at 7pm across town. I thru the single Neox 212T in back of SUV, shot across town. Unloaded cab onto folding cart, gigbag w/F1+ cords on top, strapped bass gigbag on my back and rolled in. I still use my folding cart even with these Neox cabs so as not to tear the casters up on hard parking lots. Once indoors, I then roll the cab once on the stage. Sit in bassist' really dug the rig alot and they were pushing pretty hard at times. I shoulda taken my STM-900 but the F1 is tiny for when I'm in a hurry it works. Still curious about that XB-3 cab tho :rollno:

Wow -- that's way cool!!!

Apparently, the Neox-112t's are thicker sounding than the 212's are.
Should be a great match-up with your SMax9.2.

Streamliner coming too...Dang, you got it going on!!!

Both those heads are on my GAS list, but mainly Jonesin' for the 9.2 -- looks really versatile.

I keep saying, that I'm coming over to check your gear out.
Gotta just do it...LOL!

Yes correct-2xNeox112's.Got em new and should be here Tues or Wed.I'm hoping to use one for rehearsal mainly and in my studio.Probably both on a gig most of the time.I may likely grab a Neox 212 if this works out,but I'll wait to see.I'll be sure to report in when I have some time with them.

I still love the Uber line, but with that you pick up weight and size.I wanted to try this first

FYI, if you haven't seen the Genz NAMM thread, the newly revoiced Shuttle 112T cabs are REALLY impressive, as is the more fatly voiced Shuttle 6.2.

Here is a clip if anyone is interested in seeing and hearing (at least in one context) the entire 6.2 2 x 12 stack. Not sure they will totally keep up with the NeoX112, but MUCH fatter, fuller and louder than the original Shuttle 12T, and still well under 30 pounds!

There is another clip of the combo alone with my P if you are interested.

Well John what the heck. You know me,I'll try anything.I went through some great gear in 2011.

Come over next week if you want.

If you decide to keep the Streamliner (LOL), my guess is that the Neox-212T would probably work better on a gig than a Neox-112T pair (unless you're dubbin', reggae-in', etc).

I think an Uber 115 (pair?) would work really well with the 9.2 as well.
I'd like to compare/contrast a pair of the Neox-112T with an Uber 115 pair -- no doubt the Neox would be a lot easier to lug around though.

Good stuff Ken.I was actually reading through it.I'm on my handheld so I'll listen to the clips tonight.

Yeah could be.We will see soon.I guess I'll have to get a Neox212 then!!Haha.

I'm going to borrow Kirks Uber 15 soon.I almost got one instead of the Neox's.That is next on my want list.
