GenzBenz Streamliner Pt 8...

Try the Streamliner on guitar, you just might be surprised ;) (In the right application, it rips.)

I will try that when I can. I do not have a guitar cab around these parts. My only guitar amp is a GA-5. The Streamliner would probably smoke that little speaker.:D

The next chance I get I'll plug into my buddies Bogner cab and crank it. :eek:

For those that are interested in something beside the Genz cabs (I want me some Genz Cabs), I've had very good results using the Streamliner 900 or the Shuttle 9.0 with the Golight 2x10. It is hard to believe all that sounds comes out of that little box. :hyper:

Does someone know if the signal from the Aux in is on the DI Out ? I've read the schematic on the manual, but im not sure I understand it the right way.

I think the DI (post) gets everything from eq to effects but not the AUx signal. Right ?

Thanks for answers.

Pretty sure the Aux in hits the circuit just before the Master Volume and that's it.

aux in is not included in the DI post output.

The reason is that generally the DI is used in either a studio recording or a live environment where an external console is used, and if you are playing with tracks, it's best handled through the console (especially for routing purposes).

Also, if you are playing along with click for example, you can use your amp as a monitor, hear the click on stage but send bass minus the click to the PA, even if you choose the post mode (which has more applications with the Streamliner due to it's voicing and overdrive characteristics.)

Just got a Streamliner 600. Pretty cool. All my other amps are low / mid watt tube amps, so I wanted something small and powerful in the stable. I don't worship at the alter of watts, so decided to save some $ and go with the 6. Can't imagine needing more power. If I ever need a massive amount of volume, I can do the 2x15 which will also be a 4 ohm load. I figure if you are one of those massive watts / clean headroom guys, the STL is kind of a weird choice to begin with.

Really impressed with this amp so far. Seems very responsive to playing style and atack. Found myself playing down near the bridge at practice a few times last night and getting a sound I really liked. Playing up by the neck is more normal for me.

I'm I'm a big fan of simple and would say the STL is close to simple. I had to do some knob turning to get it to sound good, but it was NOT hard to dial in a good tone. Jazz bass with flats & a single 15 my settings were something like:
Gain Switch = not engaged
Gain = 2
Volume = 12
Bass = 9
Mid = 1
Mid Freq = 2.5
Treble = 1
Master (to taste) had it at about 9 for a practice.

That's quite a bit of bass rolled off. I think that some other folks have commented that the STL is a pretty bass heavy amp.

I'm a little confused by the whole Gain-volume-Master volume thing. I've just been thinking of it like a dirty / clean blend kind of volume... What ever the science behind it, I guess the point is that it sounded good.

Very cool amp.

Correct, it's to allow good range of overdrive capability with a wide variety of bass senstivities while maintaining a useful gain structure through the amp.

Hi: Also have a Streamliner 600 after a Shuttle 6.0, like it
very much, play through a Bergie HT112/EX112 mini stack.
Volume not a problem, don't need increased headroom with
this rig and it's louder than my Eden WT400

I find the key to my sound is getting enough string noise,
ala Jack Casady, which for me is strictly a function of the
gain and volume control. Master is only at 9:00, it's the interaction
of those two controls that get me great tone.
Bass control at about 10:30, mid at 600 slightly boosted,
treble at about 1:00

Blew the opening act guy off the stage who was an
Ampeg 2 x 10 rig, not even close last week. Have two
more high profile gigs next weekend, lovin it!

I just got a new Streamliner 900 off eBay for under $700.
He has another on at this price...CLICK HERE

It should be here about the same time as my fEARful 15/6/1 I ordered from Leeland.

I haven't played bass in 16 years & I can honestly say I am MOIST waiting for this amp/cab to show up so I can finally hear this very sweet Euro 4LX I got last week.

Makes perfect sense!

I'd be interested in hearing your gain/ volume settings for that tone- I've been trying to find my sweet spot with those knobs as well...

Think I've found the tone I was looking for.
I like super clean, rich and woody...

P-bass into amp...
Gain button NOT engaged
Gain at 10 o'clock
Volume at 2 o'clock
Bass at 10 o'clock
Mid at noon
Treble at 1 o'clock
Master volume as needed

into Bergantino HS210
Yum!

Tube swap addendum:
I put a Philips NOS JAN 12AX7WA in V1
JJ 803S in V2
JJ from V1 to V3

I was just working out a few tunes and having some trouble getting the right vibe with my Uber 212T. I was after a thick punchy tone without too much bloom on the low end and a little more upper mids than this cab usually presents but without being too grindy. I ended up nailing it by elevating the cab 15" and using my Valenti PJ5 with flats through the STL900 with these settings:
Gain 10:00 with high gain in
Volume 1:00
Bass 11:00
Mids 1:00 at 2.5k
Treble 11:00
Master 11:00

Elevating the cab required a little more bass than when on the floor but it had a bit less bloom. The 600Hz region was fine but bumping 2.5kHz and cutting a little treble brought out those upper mids. The PJ5 with flats through the Streamliner cut the grind but still has a nice little growl when you dig in. Use of hand position between neck and bridge pickups makes a big difference in the voicing as well. Verrry nice indeed. :bassist:

When playing around with the Streamliner, try standing back about 6-10' from the cab and see if that balances things out better. If you are right on top of it, your perception may be skewed.

(This really applies to any amp/speaker combo).

Agreed. That 6-10' zone just slightly off-axis is where I like to stand to get a balanced sound from the cab. The Uber-212T has a nice supportive sound that slots nicely in the mix and doesn't compete with the vocals. Funny how different cabs need different approaches to bring out their best. I've also got an Uber-410T as well as a couple I've built and end up using a different touch with each one, even through the same bass and amp, to bring out their best.

Really you should stand 30 feet away to allow the wave to form.

Just kidding.

Played my second gig with the 900, this time with an oldies band without PA support. I like the tone with the the gain button out, the gain dimed and the input volume in the 3 oclock range and the master as needed for volume. Cut a bit of bass, boosted the mids a bit. Like isn't strong enough. Could be love.

I'm breaking the rules by mixing a 210 with a 112. The notes seem like they're bouncing off my fingers. And the 112 has a low xmax that's supposed to fart but doesn't. I feel like a really, really bad boy.:bassist:
