Genzler Amplification Club

I,m looking to play AB with 3 gutars and vocalist in a room with a fair amount of ambient noise and need the smallest package possible. The AAMini won’t do it?

@gclark51 --- Thanks for considering our AA-MINI for you acoustic bass needs. Frankly, I have not tried it with AB but I have tried electric/bass (4 string) and while it did fine at low volume I would not feel that confident for something you describe as "far amount of ambient noise". Now I would recommend the AA-PRO for that easily for use with an acoustic bass. The addition of the higher power, larger 10" woofer and the projection of those 2.5" drivers in the array would be excellent for that purpose.
I hope this helps. Don't want you to consider the MINI for this ---- which just might be a stretch for that little bugger.

But for your acoustic guitar friends ---- the AA-MINI is excellent and punches beyond it's weight class.

I had the 350 combo at rehearsal yesterday. The gig Friday won't use the horn section, just the lead sax, so no horns were at this rehearsal. With the drums, keys and singers I had the 350 set at about 9 Volume and 10 Gain. I played my Kingston ZX5, which has more mid range character, and the combo sat nicely and I had no problems hearing it even with it sitting behind me on the floor. It was perfect for that and I was even able to grab the combo, my mono bag and a bag with cords and two binders of sheet music in one trip. I usually take my AER amp three for this but I also use a luggage cart to roll it. Not lazy....Smart!

I’ve been wanting to get me a nice tube DI since I sold my REddi a few years ago. Anyways I found a nice deal on a Like new Firefly with the remote pedal for sale at a nice discount and jumped in it. Has anyone ever used a Thbe DI in front of their Genzler head? I’m thinking of using the Firefly for the house DI and my Genzler 350 stack for stage monitor.

You know, a great old DI I remember was the Tube Works 4001. I had one for a while and it was really nice. Not sure why I got rid of it....surprise.

Like this, except I think this is a later version. I seem to remember red graphics on mine but it was a long time ago so who knows.

BK Butler Tube Works RT-4001 Active DI Direct Input Box

They're on Reverb for like $80. Even if it doesn't do it for you you aren't out much. Rumor has it Lee Sklar used them.

I believe there is some connection to Jeff Genzler as well, from WAY back in he day. He might have some insight.

I’ve used an Ashdown stomp box pre and also a Sans Amp BDDI ( The newer version) in front of mine- both with good results. And I used it like you are talking about. I really liked both. I used the Sans Amp like that quite a bit. I liked the slight breakup I could get using it and I thought it sounded really good.

I have an ART Tube pre that I use in front; I think it is great with the MG800.

IF that does happen. Make it 2 semi-Para Mid bands of EQ.. A Low Mid and High Mid ... And a Shelving switch on Treble to switch between Two different treble shelves for perfect tailoring with different cab types

Sorry, nothing to offer in this type of product at this time.

. . how's it coming with that MG800 Preamp DI with EQ, A/B contour, and drive. .? Would it sound different with A/B Class amp's power sections?
This application already exists in the 6-lb MG800, using either the EFX loop send or DI out.

Take the MG800 preamp signal to your fave class A/B power amps and answer your question of how the preamp sounds with different power amps. Use your favorite stomp box for the exact drive you favor. Discover that the built-in MG800 power section compares favorably to your class A/B choices, and go happily with just the MG800, saving space, weight, and setup time.
