Just for the record, since I have time, I wasn't blown away by my genzler, but as I've used them, I become more impressed. They are so capable and get the job done without drama. I don't want to offend anyone, but for me it was like comparing my step dad's 90's mustang 5.0 to an audi s4 I drove. The mustang was impressive because when you got on the gas it started jumping around and making a lot of noise and stuff. The audi just competently and quietly performed without any real drama. So it took time to appreciate. The mustang got tiresome. Nobody get bent out of shape! I think both cars have their plusses! Just making a point, that the genzler has really grown on me, and I think it will continue to do so.
I was lucky to find this group before I purchased. Lots of good unbiased comments. I was considering the Mesa D800+ as well. I am lucky enough to have a store about 1hr 20m away that had both in stock. Brought my bass with me and was sold almost instantly as soon as I plugged into the MG800.

@PaulS --- you could give Russo's Music in Asbury Park a call. They have the MG-800 and a couple of BA12-3's there you could check out.
I,m looking to play AB with 3 gutars and vocalist in a room with a fair amount of ambient noise and need the smallest package possible. The AAMini won’t do it?
I miss my ‘90 5.0 LX...
The MG800 really is a drama-free performer, though. I catch the dudes in my band making bass faces with me, during certain parts.

I just went into South Austin Music on S. Lamar in Austin today .. I haven't been in town on quite some time. . They had a nice selection of Genzler gear.. 350, 800s. 112s 110... And even an older Uber 115 and older focus 410... Nice
Yes I did. And I ain't got a clue. I've always used a basic D.I. box or just gone straight into the interface without the problems you are experiencing.
+1 on Russo Music. I just PM'd PaulS with the same info. I just bought an MG-800 from them and noticed they also had the BA12-3's. I have to find a home for my Edens before I pull the trigger on the cabs, but I cant wait to get my hands on them.
Hey all - I wanted to share something cool, speaking of recording with the MG800.
This is a rough mix of one of the songs my band is in the process of recording.
This is essentially a practice take while we are waiting for a better recording interface to arrive, but I still it sounds pretty sweet, and it shows what I’m getting out of just a single wet bass track DI from the MG800.
Can’t wait to see what I can get with three separate bass tracks!

Edit: For anyone curious, I recorded this using a Dingwall NG-3 through an Empress Compressor -> Darkglass AO Ultra -> EHX Bass Clone -> MG800 -> DI to interface.

Hi Paul..don't know if this will help you but my journey to Genzler started with G-K head, 15 + 4x10, then Eden head and 4x10 + 2x10, then Markbass head and 15 + 2x10. Each "upgrade" was noticeably better. With the Markbass I thought I had found a great combination of portability and high quality sound. A visit to my local (Calif.) store changed that.
My dealer said I really needed to check out the new Genzler stuff which I honestly had never heard of. I hauled my Markbass gear and bass to the store and was sold within about 30 seconds of A/B'ing both rigs. There was a HUGE difference that I just can't really describe. Even comparing the full Markbass rig to a single 12-3 and a 350 head was night and day. Needless to say, I left my gear with the dealer to sell on consignment and walked out with a 12-3 array and 350 head. I later upgraded with a TB member here to an 800 head. Now thinking of picking up a 350 combo for home/practice/small gigs.
The community here and Jeff's dedication to support and service were icing on the cake for me. I don't know what gear you are coming from but I hope my journey helps you make the jump. I can't imagine you'll regret anything except why you didn't do it sooner!!

Looking for another sound bass to go with my current family members and have been considering a G&L Kiloton. It's kind of a passive Stingray with a very light (8 pound) body, thin jazz-style neck and some very simple controls. Sounds much more in control than the current MM (which I owned a '78 that I recently sold). Anyway, they are impossible to find locally and I thought I'd ask if any of you have played/owned one and what your thoughts are.
I have a P-bass, Zon Sonus (very Jazz-like), a Warwick thin hollow and think a Stingray/Kiloton would add a nice hard rock, and easy on the back, sound that is quite unlike my other axes. I can also grab one for about $1300 which is pretty nice for a USA instrument.
OK, back to cabs and heads! Appreciate your indulgence.

@dwellers i have actually been using Hartke for the last 20+ years. Currently have a ha2000 with a 4x10 and 1x15 XL series. Also have a 210.5 xl. The head is not functioning very well and I actually somehow blew one of the speakers in the 4x10 and it buzzes like crazy. I want something modern and lightweight, too old for those heavy cabs lol. Jeff and several others have contacted me directly, and I will be checking out the gear shortly. Hartke customer service is a mess, I cannot get them to help with getting a replacement speaker, or even find out if one is available considering the age of the cab.
I have been very impressed by the videos I have heard of these basses. I was tempted for a while to get one to use in my cover band. I would need a 5 string, and something different than my Roscoe. These are pretty impressive, and there seems to be a couple different sounds you can get from them with the series/parallel/split single toggle. It has more of a "rock" look for the cover band I guess, but I have a hard time playing anything but my Roscoe. I've had G&L's in the past and they are excellent basses - especially the USA made. Tributes aren't bad either for what they are.
I think you'll be really blown away by the Genzler gear, in any combination of heads and cabs. And when you factor in the weight and the fact that the guy whose name is on the gear talks to you, done deal! Go check it out and let us know what you think. Or just buy it with a 2 to 4 week return privilege. You won't need more than 2 to 4 minutes really.

What got me away from my 410 originally was a private party gig where I had to carry my 100lb+ cab about 200 yards into a back yard. And then load in my SVT 3pro, gig bag and bass. Good paying gig the load out was even worse! Started with a single BA12-3 for the rest of that summer and it nailed it every time; even an outdoor gig with no FOH support. Best of all, my drummer stopped complaining he couldn't hear me.
