Genzler Amplification Club

Does anybody have both the BA cabs and the Magellan cabs? Or extensive experience with both? I was curious how the sound relates between the two. I have two MG cabs, and really started there because I found a really good deal on them. Sound great to my ears, but always have a bit of envy to all the BA love round these parts. I tried one in a store and it sounded great, but they didn’t have them side by side so I couldn’t really compare.

Where in Chicago are you? I’m NW, by O’hare... also, I’m planning on bringing them to the Chicago GTG April 14...

April 14th is the 2019 Spring Chicago GTG.

I haven't but the folks at Nordstrand had both for a while. They sold the Magellans, kept the BAs. you can make your own conclusions.

They are both exceptional! I did have the MG212 and it was one of the best "traditional" cab I ever owned! Growly and very present in the mids (not in a boxy or nasally way)... it took me a couple of years to decide between the MG and BA, but I feel the BA have a more balanced sound for what I need and it also took a moment to get used to the "lack" of tweeter (I've been around for few years, when it was all about that sizzle! :cool: ).... again, I could live with either one...

Got ya...looking for a short one (15 - 25') to carry in my gig bag. I have one of those windup 12 amp with 4 outlets on it for gigs. This is just to keep in the bag. Thanks!!

I use these for all my power needs. Comes out of the home audio world but I have noticed much better output from any audio related gear with improved power cords. Just a quick thing to think about; you pay $800 or so for a Magellan head, how much of that goes into the included power cord it comes with? $1 maybe $5? food for thought.

Transparent Audio: Interconnects, speaker cables, digital audio cables, HDMI cables, power conditioning, and power cords for music lovers, audiophiles, home theater enthusiasts, and music and film studio professionals.

Maybe 5 dollars is all it costs to get all you can from that particular part? I could see spending a few extra dollars for something more flexible, etc. but that's about it, for me anyway.

Sure if you're powering a $3 light bulb. I'm talking about getting every ounce of performance out of a high end piece of audio gear. Not for everyone I guess true, but for those that want it it's out there

I feel like if the cord was limiting the performance of the amplifier, a smart guy like genzler or agedhorse, etc. would spend a little extra on the cord, or optimize the amplifier so it doesn't have capability that it can't use due to the power cord. It doesn't make sense to me, but that's cool if people want a different power cord. Personally, I'd pay 15.00 for a flexible, nicely made power cord, because some of mine are bent and kinked, into weird shapes, etc. and are somewhat hard to handle, route, etc. But I almost feel like it would be insulting to the engineers who make these products to expect the amp to work better. What kind of a dork engineer wouldn't consider something that simple?
