The 12-3 slt’s have the handle in the center of the top, not on the back corner like the 10’s do...

Just picked up an mg800 off of reverb for 550 shipped... Then taxes added $30 so... 580ish then. Not sure why I bought it, couldn't pass the deal by. Guess I had to get myself something for Christmas.
I just got a bag for my MG800. Superb fit and protection. Next year I'll start looking new Genzler cabs.
Best. Cabs. EVER. I have three 10-2's. (Plus a MG800.) And although I don't play in crazy loud bands, I have only needed to use all three a few times. I have used two on indoor and outdoor gigs. Of course, the outdoor gigs have had good FOH sound, but still......Ony needing to haul two little cabs to a show is a real treat.
I love how responsive to EQ and right hand technique these cabs are. The bottom is not lacking yet tight. But the note separation is what impresses me the most. Every note has it's own well defined start, bloom and end. Even on fast/technical passages.
I also double on upright doing mostly cocktail hour type of jazz gigs. The 10-2 is a great cab for URB, too.

So I wanted to ask the users that have owned and gifted the the Genzler 12T Tallboy Cabinet. I’m wanting to order one but wanted to see how it compares to the 10-2 arrays.
I have both. I prefer the sound of the 12T, i'm reluctant to try and describe the difference between it and the BA10-2. I also prefer the taller cabinet- a little less bending down for this creaky old back and knees.
Amazingly (to me anyway) the 12T "feels" the same to carry around as the BA10-2, ie easy. I can say i hear a bigger fuller sound which of course you'd expect from the 12 vs 10 speaker.
Both really excellent cabs on all counts but i'd strongly suggest you try to hear the 12T and then compare for yourself. Fyi i use an MG-350 amp.

I just ordered a Genzler Magellan 350, without every trying one. It will be in my hands next Tuesday. I've read very favorable reviews of all things Genzler. What should I expect? I've been told to be prepared to be blown away. Why/How?

Well I got my new Genzler 12T TallBoy cabinet in today and initial impressions are very good. This cabinet really puts out the low end with more top end sheen than I'm used to in the arrays. I can definitely since a little more top end clarity with the tweeter. So far I like it 50% or less. Really impressive sounding and nice looking cabinet. I definitely see me ordering another one to complete a stack. I think the 10-2 array stack and a stack of these will do quite nicely.
I find the Genzler heads to be transparent but with real authority in every register. That authority is what really blew me away. The EQ is versatile and gives you lots of variation while remaining musical at all times.
Transparent is about how I'd describe my Carvin head. The EQ on it though is not very useful. I typically put a Sansamp in front of it to have better tone shaping and give it more "booty"
Roscoe and my Devon Sound massive through this little cabinet.
I think you’ll be very pleased. I used a Carvin BX500 for some time but you will hear a significant difference of much better usable EQ. Ironically I keep my EQ on my 350 pretty flat but I used to turn knobs on my Carvin to get to what I get out of my 350 flat somehow. It’s just a higher end quality sound overall. Hard to explain.
This certainly helps. The EQ on the Carvin is so anemic that the only way I can get a good tone reliably is use my Sansamp for tone shaping. Sounds like I will be have some good tone in my future.

I’d say I play with the contour and the A/B curve more than anything else. Bass EQ depending on the room. Little goes a long way.
I think you're going to love the 350. I had one for a short period of time and traded up (here on TB) to the 800 as I started playing with a loud rock band and needed the headroom. Mind you I'm sure the 350 would have done just fine, but, well, you know...what can I say? I needed it to go to 11.
Question for you: what cabinet are you planning to use? I traded in my Markbass stuff (LittleMark head, single 15 and 2x10) for all Genzler rig and was amazed at the difference in sound. But I can't say how much was amp and how much was cabinet. But it was dramatic-- far more than I expected.
Lastly, for my Genzler brethren, I just ordered a Sandberg TM-4 bass. I was looking for a jazz type bass to replace a G&L MJ and Zon Sonus (still for sale btw) that would give me lots of variety as well as some grit for the hard stuff. I'm very excited about it. Any Genzler brothers using Sandberg? Very hard to find to try here but I did get to play a P bass style and I liked it. Seems like a lot of hand built quality for the money.

Yeah I do agree with that. I’m spoiled as I’m using 2 12-3 (1 is slant) with just the 350 and have plenty of room to spare personally and couldn’t be happier It’s adapted to countless situations and with FOH could use just 1 cabinet but 2 is just more better.
And for something really warm and creamy - try a Broughton SVPre-with the 350 and a 10 and 12 cab. You'd swear its an SVT sled with 8 drivers. Wish I knew how to put a sound clip up - but really sumpin' else!
So, I've had a little time with the 800 now and I have to say, I am absolutely in love with this head. I've mostly been recording into my Focusrite itrack solo straight from the DI and it sounds amazing. I don't even know that I've messed with the eq much on it. I have the A contour at around 1 o'clock, a slight bass boost and pretty flat on the mids and treble. Playing my ibby 506 into my overly dirty and filtered pedalboard, I've been utilizing the eq on my bass more than I ever have and I'm managing to get very useable -- and some just flat out nasty -- tones through a selection of fuzz pedals. Running it clean into ableton, I really like the dry tone with just a touch of compression. It is very articulate and cuts through a electronic drum and synth mix really well. Running it into a 4x10 and 1x15 Ampeg stack, it gets earthshaking loud but so damn clean. Granted, I've not come anywhere near to cranking it. Maybe 12 on the gain and 9 o'clock on the master, this thing is LOUD. I also have no idea when I'm going to get to play it with live instruments but I feel confidently future proofed. I feel like this amp has a louder, cleaner sound than my old GBE1200, which I miss dearly but will never lug around again after the 800. Now I just need to get the bass array cabs to match.
I have no Sandberg experience but everyone I have heard, has sounded amazing. Keep us updated!
