Nice rigs Bob!! There is nothing like the quick response of 10’s and that upper mid punch. No doubt the band (and audience) could hear you better. That’s what the BA cabs do. Glad you had a great experience right out of the box!! I agree with Loring…..Fire up both those cabs and it will be hard to wipe the smile off your face!!

I used my new MG350/BA10-2 combo on its first gig last night with exceptional results and I have some comments comparing it to my MG350/MG12T-V.

… And the dispersion is something to behold. The band mates commented that they could hear me better…

That was my experience as well—the coverage was unbelievable. Everyone said they could hear me just fine (something that they might have regretted). I have yet to bring my second BA 10/2 to a gig, although I know that I will at some point.
When the combo first came out, I remember how the consensus was that it punched above its weight…how true that is!

I was using the Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0-10T with a 2nd 10 for a mini stack. I got the new MG350/BA10 combo to replace it. That single cab can do a lot, but I felt I needed just a little more for outside so I went with the 12T-V. I wanted to stay with a single cab, one hand grab solution.

Has anyone compared the single 210 to a stack of 2xBA10s? I know that there are some obvious differences due to impedance, a vertical stack etc. But are they going to be fairly close in overall air movement and tonal characteristics?

I haven't, but they have different drivers and a different crossover point so I'd expect them to be fairly different.

A little recording I did late last night. I used the MG 800 for the signal path, post EQ. I left the contour and EQ flat and used the drive channel to add a little 'hair' to the tone. I do have a few caveats though:

This bass has a very 'polite' tone to it and also has an interesting character in the mids. I have always felt the ebony fingerboard gives this bass a slightly compressed sound.....just IMO. If I would have played along to this track on the clean channel you would notice a difference in tone for sure.

My recording equipment/techniques are old school and I have no patience when it comes to final mixes etc. I recorded this on my old Boss BR1600 recorder. EQ was left flat and I used a canned mixdown preset that added a little compression to the overall track. I also had to pull the track from youtube and then used the 'moises' app to strip the bass part. Although it works pretty well it definitely degrades the track. My daughter chose this track so Daddy is going to make it happen no matter how I have to do it!! Not my favorite way to pull audio but it is what it is. Something seemed to go weird after the bridge but I'm not sure why. Anyhow, with all of that out of the way here is the track.....

For me, the MG350 with 2 BA10-2s is perfect for the restaurants I play with my trio. I can hear my low B very well with a moderate drummer playing dance music. Great clarity and punch!

Question for you guys about the direct out. Had my first jam in 18 months last night. The guitarist likes to record rehearsals, so I told him we could just use the direct out vs miking the cab. We ended up not recording anything because I was trying to learn 10 songs at once lol (this is a band reunion, I haven’t played with them in 10 years). My question is, is there anything special we need to do when running direct into an interface? There’s not much in the manual regarding this. I just want to make sure I’m not overloading his system. Please excuse me if this is a dumb question! I am not sure what interface he uses.

line level out is quite a hot signal. based on feedback from sound-guys during gigs with FOH.
mic level out is, as Joey says, the way to go.

This. Most of the time we use our own PA but here in the last few weeks we've had a couple of shows using the house system/engineer. On the last one we had plenty of time to set up and sound check so I asked the FOH guy how the DI was treating him. He said the signal level was perfect (mic) and it was also very quiet. Win Win!

The DI on the Genzler (and even before on the Genz Benz amps) have served me well on 1000s of gigs. Quiet and never an issue with FOH engineers. Another great feature of the Magellan amps!!

i use post eq mic level out for recording but if you can get away with line level even better- my live board lets me do line level in. Hotter the signal the less noise (unless the signal itself has noise)

Thanks for the info, was about to beat myself up for scratch tracking and A/B-ing for months on line level.

I thought I saw someone compare the GB DI to a Countryman a while back. Used a bunch of electronic stuff to show frequencies and all that stuff. All I know is it sounds great. If Genzler had a “tube” head, I could maybe even replace my REDDI for DI/IEM gigs…
