I think the BA 410 would be a killer cab…moving lots of air with the vertical array straight up the middle. Problem for me is, that configuration,because of the extra 15 pounds and wider footprint doesn’t fit what I’m currently looking for. Someday maybe…

Brief observation A/B comparing my BA12-3 and BA12-3 SLT. Both 8 ohm, 350W.

The 12-3 has a looser low end and a tweeter-like high end, as formal reviews have noted. The SLT sounds controlled and even, with less-crisp though not attenuated highs and with tighter, full bass.

Between a Mesa WD-800 and a Magellan 800, I felt the 12-3 paired more naturally with the Magellan with minimal contour and knob twisting, while the SLT better matched with the WD. The 12-3's crisper highs were pronounced on the WD.

Contrary to others' experience, in my quiet listening, stacking the two cabinets, no special coupling happened. The stack will work out better than fine in a live setting I'm sure, but they are two different sound signatures. I believe pairing two (or three) of the same cabs will yield a better scaling of your tone.

The BA12-3 on top of the MG212 will sound amazing. Just remember to turn off the horn on the 212 so the cabs don't fight each other. I run a very similar set up and trust me it's huge.

Good suggestion. 3 twelves then the Array of paper cone drivers. One could try to add in just a bit of that horn if they wanted a bit of sizzle, balanced by the Array taking priority in the amp chain. I like the sound of three 12’s.

I played a stack of 3 x 12-3s for a single outdoor amphitheater gig several years ago. All I recall was that the tone was magical that evening.

this was before I got my 410-3 and 15-3 (broke up the gang of 12s to help with those purchases).

I finally ordered a 15-3 BA SLT to go under my 12-3 BA SLT. I’m excited to see how it sounds. Hopefully the height will be ideal and I’m also really hoping the 15 will extend the low frequencies. The cab should be arriving tomorrow!

I had a party on Labor Day complete with backline and my doubling/tripling rig. The guitar is a 30 inch scale Gretsch baritone tuned in fourths from Low B.

So fantastic! I am in love with my latest Genzler purchase, the Magellan 800. Just sounds right! Not quite as bright, but more punchy in the low mids (set flat) than the Mesa WD800 (also a great amp and a keeper, just different).

Beautiful set-up! I sold my Eminence when I went to a full sized Upton Bohemian. I many times wish I still had my Eminence for portability. I got a much better sound out of it after I bought a Sarno Black Box! I’ll bet it sounds great out of those BA’s!

this is absolutely the best sound I’ve ever had, bar none. Just super fat, punchy, articulate, and clear and deep… Basically everything. With my six string electric and FX as well as my five string electric upright.

I found out my brand new to me BA15’s mid/high 3 inch speaker array was NOT plugged in! Absolute game changer for that cab. I think it’s a keeper, I was on the fence before but I was missing half of the frequency range.

BA15, BA210-3 SLT, and Bergantino HDN210 on top, powered by a Magellan 800. Didn’t use any contour or EQ. Might’ve bumped the highs just a hair a bit.

The Bergantino gave the whole rig a little extra punch with the extra tens, and a little glassier high end in the very top. I had the tweeter turned about halfway down. i’ve never been in such tone heaven. And they could’ve gotten even way louder. Only had it up about halfway and I could easily drown the band…not that that’s what you want lol.

I’m just now (after 47 years) getting into pedals. Just basic Waza tuner, Keeley bass comp, chorus, Broughton HPF, and Noble pre-amp. You have a class AAA system for sure…I wouldn’t know what to do with all those pedals!

Do you use an impedance buffer or notch filter with your Eminence? I had trouble with around 550 Hz, finally solved it with parametric eq and the Sarno. I can’t wait to hear your video, I’m sure the tone is to die for! Cheers…

On the Eminence, I use that little Art tube preamp for the XLR balanced out of my custom Clarke Biesele 5 string magnetic low impedance pick up. It has a quarter inch TRS out to XLR. It can get crazy epically loud and no feedback! The full range sound, since it’s low impedance, is magnificent. I’m so happy with that pick up, but the price is no joke.

Since it’s magnetic, it does not pick up the body resonance/feedback. It still sounds satisfyingly acoustic but definitely a little bit more on the electric side of things. That bass is a great little animal, different from the electric fretless as well as the upright. And massive sound. For large festivals I use it. Here is a link to a bunch of songs I did with Stu Allen (from Mars Hotel) and Joe Craven for Jerry day in San Francisco a few weeks ago. We talked through the set beforehand but no rehearsal. Joe and I play in a great band called Painted Mandolin it’s like a Jerry Garcia/Grateful Dead acoustic style band.

here I am playing through an 8 x 10 and SVT. The fat huge sound is absolutely addicting. I made myself turn down but God it sounded so good! Here is a link to that:

I've been thinking about picking up a Nu Classic 210 to see if I like it better than the MG12T-V. The NC210 is a good bit heavier, but I like that it has two side handles to distribute weight between both arms. Maybe I just need to have both!

Question: how did you know and/or determine that the array was not plugged in? How did you check/fix it? Just put your ear up to the cab?

I was listening for the balance between the three cabs with my ear up to them. The 15 just seemed a lot quieter and I noticed I wasn’t hearing much highs. Then I used a frequency analyzer tone generator on my phone at 5k and then 9k and sure enough it was really lacking in highs. Then I unplugged and tested each individually. I shone my flashlight at the speaker cable from the array inside the grill and it looked like it wasn’t all the way in compared to the 210. Removed the grill to investigate and for sure it wasn’t plugged in! I actually had to push in pretty hard to get it to snap in but man that thing is solid once it’s in!

Ah, thanks for that. Since it was "new to you" it probably didn't leave the factory that way but got jostled loose somewhere along its journey. Now I'm curious and will check mine.

Another question about the Berg 210...funds notwithstanding, would your preference be to have another Genzler 210 on the top of the stack or does the Berg give you something the Genzler 210 doesn't? Have you A/B'd the BA210 and the Berg210? Have you tried the Berg in between the two BA cabs? Probably wouldn't stack well given the depth of the BA to the Berg.

Have you A/B'd the BA210 and the Berg210? Have you tried the Berg in between the two BA cabs? Probably wouldn't stack well given the depth of the BA to the Berg.

Honestly, I tried two 210 SLT‘s and at least in studio room testing the berg actually did give something different and sweet to the mix! It doesn’t have the same low mid/high bass grunt of the Genzler but it has amazing, even, transparent clarity as evidenced when I play music mixes from my phone or whatever through it. Also the different character of the mids and bass and from that awesome horn (which I actually prefer over the Berg reference horn by the way) gives a different type of sheen to the high end.

The BA210 with just the Berg (no BA15) is amazingly punchy and awesome and will probably become my indoor big rig fire power when I don’t need or want to also carry the 15.

I think I like the BA210/Berg HDN210 combo better than two Genzler 210s, and also like it better than two HDN 210s! and that is saying a lot! I’ve been incredibly happy with my 2x HDN210 for probably 4 years now. But now I found something even better. Genzler adds more clarity to the high mids, and more bass and low mid grunt.

With the 2x210 stack, the configuration above sounded the best. (Just imagine no BA15). The speakers on the left side are more in a row and it was subtle but I could hear the difference than when it was stacked right in the middle. More bottom.

I would love to try the NC 210/NC 15. But I have a feeling the array series is better for my style. Also I don’t think I could get past the look of the NC210 on top of the array 210, but Who knows, it might be magic!
