Genzler Amplification Club

This is all a grand scheme between Jeff and Andy to take over the world. Combinations of Genz-Benz, Mesa, and Genzler? We bass players would naturally start combining them, old gear that we still have and the new gear we are currently buying.

I was among that cadre (cohort? current word) of Genz-Benz owners in the 2000's and 2010's who kept buying the latest GB gear and eventually flipping some of it. Now, between Jeff and Andy, we are all doomed. Happily. :)

I should post the current inventory at some point, but not tonight. It's not as much as some of you have, but it's a bit of each of the three culprits.

Speaking of old gear, I am stoked to take the GBE from storage into this new rack. Found an Uber last week and just sold some older GB gear to keep the funding balanced. Gator skin (faux) case can be found on Etsy from a great builder if you like it.

Right now I am using a Mesa D800 into Genzler cabs. I previously owned a shuttle 9 and shuttle 112. They know their stuff!

Now there is a classic head that started a lot of the design features for Genz Benz and beyond. Nice case it sits in. I wonder how many of those faux gators can be found in them Florida swamps.

A guy here in KnoxVeegas has a Genz-Benz 212 NXT2 cab in great shape for sale. I probably will calm down at some point, but I'm envisioning getting it and pairing it with the MG 350 from my new combo. Further out in left field, picking up one of the MG 800s currently in TB classifieds.

Genz-Genz for the Winz!

"Security! Show this guy out."
I’m the guy with the 212. It wouldn’t hurt me one bit if I had to keep it. Lol! My favorite amp of all time is the streamliner. I have a 600 & 900 that I’ll prob die with, but the mg350 is my backup to those and no slouch at all. You can’t beat Genz gear!

I am thankful to have Andy & Jeff to blame for all the money I have spent in the last 10 years on their fabulous bass amps ha! A WA scout 15, Mpulse600, Shuttle 6.0 & 9.0 and I just bought the Magellan 800 directly from Jeff. This amazing amp is what I think is Jeff's best work yet. The A&B contour and the DRIVE/clean channels are what sets it apart from the rest. So versatile and easy to dial up. Also just bought a closet queen Prodigy 250 which will be here in a few days my first tube amp in 45 years since my old V4b days back in the 70's.

I introduce my first bass rig since I had retired two years ago due to cancer and nerve damage to my fingertips due to the chemo. This thing is absolutely monstrous in volume and tone! Genzler Magellan 800 into a 1000 watt Genz-Benz Uber 4x10 cab. 2016 Rickenbacker 4003 rounds out the rig.View attachment 4898542
First, so glad to hear of your recovery! Hoping that episode remains firmly in the rear view.
Congratulations on your new rig—it looks ready to shake the contents of your shelves right off!

Here’s from the gig Thursday night. I’ve really been enjoying my last few shows using the re/Q in the signal chain. There are a couple of the set frequency points on the pedal that are normally ones I like to boost or cut so it makes it easy to dial in my sound quickly. Typically it has been a small boost on the low knob and a slight cut on the treble knob. The MG stays flat with the contour A at 9 o clock. Also have done some slight adjustments with the HP/LP filters depending on the room. A lot of tones between the re/Q and the amp to be had.

I’ve been using my Re/Q the past couple of weeks in an ampless stage situation and really enjoying it.
I rotate my basses into my weekly gig and I’m finding that this pedal is not a set-it and leave-it type.

OK...so here's a question for the Genzler crowd...

Aside from the 350 Combo, has anyone used their other Genzler amps/cabs for an upright/double bass? The boy (my son) has now started playing an upright and his teacher (a university professor for double bass) suggested he get a pickup at some point. I know what pickup we will eventually get, but I am thinking he would be fine using his MG800 and either his NC212 or NC115. Thoughts???

Thanks!
